RULES

There are some specific rules to form the comparatives, these depend of the adjective if it is:Regular, irregular and long adjectives.

REGULAR ADJECTIVES• Usually form the comparative by adding-er to the

adjectivesmall (pequeño) - smaller (más pequeño)

• If the adjective ends with e, only add r to form the comparative:

Large (grande) – larger (más grande)

• To form the superlative change er for the and est with the same rules:

The largest (el mas grande)

• If the word ends with a consonant and then Y change the Y for i then add-er.

Easy (fácil) - easier (más fácil)

• If a word ends with a consonant, a vowel, then another consonant and the stronger the last syllable, double the last letter before adding-er.

Hot (calido) – Hotter (más calido)

• To form the comparative and superlative of adjectives of three or more syllables, add more and the most before the positive form:

Beautiful - more beautiful(hermosa)- (mas hermosa)
