La storia di Polyglass inizia con il lavoro concreto di tre fratelli, che, impegnati nella realizzazione di coperture, fondano nel 1957 la “Superasfalti Zanchetta”, società specializzata in impermeabilizzazioni che si trasforma poi in produzione poco più che artigianale.

Una storia iniziata tanti anni fa...A story which goes back several years...

Polyglass’ history begins with the activity of three brothers whom, working with coverings, founded “Superasfalti Zanchetta’’ in 1957, a company specialized in waterproofing which will later become responsible for a hand-crafted production.

Nel 1969 inizia la produzione industriale con il primo marchio Polyglass. È l’avvio di un’espansione che vede già negli anni ’80 la Polyglass presente anche negli Stati Uniti con un proprio stabilimento. Con un fatturato aggregato superiore ai 150 milioni di Euro, oggi Polyglass conta due stabilimenti in Italia, tre negli Usa e due consociate in Romania e UK.La dimensione internazionale va di pari passo con la ricerca scientifica e con l’obiettivo di offrire soluzioni sempre nuove, sempre più semplici ed efficaci. E’ così che alla fibra di vetro come supporto si affianca il tessuto non tessuto di poliestere, alle tradizionali membrane applicate con la fiamma si aggiungono quelle autoadesive di ultima generazione che significano niente fumo, rumore e grande sicurezza durante l’applicazione.

In 1969 the industrial production using the first Polyglass brand begins. It’s the beginning of an expansion which will be responsible for the foundation of a plant in the United States already in the 80’s. Today, with aggregate sales exceeding 150 million Euros, Polyglass has two plants in Italy, three in the US and two associate companies in Romania and the UK.Polyglass internationality is supported by scientific research and its objective is to always offer new, simple and effective solutions. This is how beside fiber glass support, there is the polyester nonwoven fabric and the traditional membranes which are applied by the use of a flame, are joined by the last generation self-adhesives, which means greater safety during the application without smoke and noise.

La sede della Società si trova a Ponte di Piave in provincia di Treviso: più di 90.000 m2 di superficie, 25.000 m2 coperti, 4 linee di produzione di membrane bitume polimero, 1 linea per la produzione di isolanti termici e acustici e 1 linea per la produzione di manti sintetici in PVC-P e TPO/FPO. Inoltre la Polyglass utilizza un’unità di produzione a Bari, con una linea per membrane bitume polimero.

The Company’s headquarter is located in Ponte di Piave, Treviso: over 90.000 m2 of surface, 25.000 m2 covered, 4 production lines of polymer-bitumen membranes, one production line of thermal and acoustic insulator and one production line of synthetic PVC-P and TPO/FPO coverings. In addition, Polyglass has a production line of polymer-bitumen membranes in Bari.

Polyglass è presente anche negli Stati Uniti attraverso Polyglass USA Inc. con ben 3 siti produttivi: il primo nello stato del Nevada (Fernley) dove, nel 1989 inizia l’avventura americana; seguito nel 2000 dallo stabilimento di Hazleton (Pennsylvania) e infine con l’ultimo nato in Florida a Winter Haven. La sede della Polyglass USA si trova a Deerfield Beach, Florida.Nel 1993 il Gruppo Polyglass realizza una joint venture commerciale nel Regno Unito partecipando la società MSP. Nel 2006 viene acquisita la totalità delle quote di MSP e inizia una attività indipendente con il nome Polyglass Great Britain con sede nelle Midlands (Wolverhampton). Un’altra attività commerciale viene avviata in Romania, con l’apertura di Polyglass Romania, che permette una presenza fondamentale nell’Europa dell’Est.

Nell’ottobre 2008 Polyglass viene acquisita dal Gruppo MAPEI. Un colosso internazionale della chimica per le costruzioni, che a inizio 2012 è costituito da 68 diverse Società che operano in continenti, 18 Centri di Ricerca e Sviluppo e 63 stabilimenti di produzione attivi in 31 paesi nel mondo e 2,1 miliardi di Euro di fatturato aggregato.

In October 2008 Polyglass was taken over by the MAPEI Group. An international giant in the chemical industry for construction, which as of the beginning of 2012, is the parent of 68 sub-companies operating in 5 continents, 18 R&D centres and 63 production plants in 31 countries all over the world and registered aggregate sales of 2,1 billion Euros.

Nel 1990 Polyglass svi luppa la tecnologia ADESO®, un concetto rivoluzionario di produzione di membrane autoadesive a doppio compound che utilizzano una mescola APP o SBS nel lato superiore, ed una mescola altamente autoadesiva nel lato inferiore dell’armatura di rinforzo. La posa a freddo dei teli senza fusione della mescola ed utilizzo di fiamme libere consente, non soltanto di risparmiare sui tempi e sui costi di applicazione, ma anche di evitare i fumi, odori e rumori che una normale sfiammatura può comportare.

In 1990 Polyglass developed the ADESO® technology, a revolutionary concept for the production of double compound self-adhesive membranes using a compound of APP or SBS on the upper side and a highly adhesive compound on the lower side of the reinforcement. The cold application of the sheets without the fusion of the compound and the use of open flames allows not only to save time and money but also to avoid smoke, smells and noises which flaming generally entails.

REOXTHENE® is a revolutionary technology developed by POLYGLASS and MAPEI’s R&D laboratories. Thanks to a groundbreaking approach, which brings a revolution in the traditional mixing and production techniques of bituminous compounds, the current technological boundaries in the weight/thickness ratio have been crossed. As of today REOXTHENE® consists of over 40% of Polyglass’ production. Nel 2009 Polyglass inaugura la produ-zione di MAPEPLAN®, la nuova linea di manti sintetici per impermeabilizzazioni, che grazie ad un’esclusiva tecnologia di “multi-extrusion coating” è in grado di fornire manti in PVC-P e TPO/FPO dalle più elevate prestazioni e durabilità. Una delle caratteristiche fondamentali dei manti MAPEPLAN® è l’eccellente lavora-bilità e saldabilità. La saldatura termica costituisce una vera e propria fusione e unione tra le catene molecolari, resisten-te al battente idraulico e alle sollecitazioni meccaniche. Con i sistemi impermeabili MAPEPLAN® è possibile realizzare im-permeabilizzazioni “continue” totalmente ermetiche di coperture e opere di inge-gneria civile.

In 2009 Polyglass launched the new MAPELAN® production, a new line ofsynthetic coverings for waterproofing, which thanks to an exclusive “multi-extrusion coating’’ technology is able to provide PVC-P and TPO/FPO surfaces guaranteed to last long and have great performances. One of the most important characteristics of the MAPELAN® surfaces is their great workability and weldability. The thermal welding consists of an actual fusion and union of the molecular chains and provides resistance to the water head and mechanical stress. With MAPELAN® waterproofing systems it’s possible to re-alize totally hermetic “continuous’’ water-proofing for roofing and civil engineering works.

MAPEPLAN® viene proposto anche nella versione “Smart White”, in cui lo strato superiore viene realizzato con una speciale colorazione bianca nella massa, che garantisce un’ottimale riflettanza solare. Questo manto riduce infatti di oltre il 50% la temperatura superficiale del tetto e, di conseguenza, anche la temperatura interna dell’edificio, mantenendole costanti. Grazie alla produzione di manti sintetici oggi Polyglass è in grado di fornire al mercato una gamma completa di soluzioni impermeabilizzanti sia bituminose che sintetiche.

MAPEPLAN® is also available in the “Smart White’’ version, in which the top layer is produced in white, which guarantees a great solar reflectance. This covering reduces the roof’s surface temperature by 50% and, consequently, also the internal temperature of the building, keeping them constant. Thanks to the production of synthetic membranes, Polyglass can now provide a complete range of solutions, both bituminous and synthetic, for waterproofing.

Da sempre il Dipartimento Marketing, con l’ausilio del Servizio Tecnico Polyglass, organizza in collaborazione con le varie Associazioni Professionali, seminari e conferenze in Italia e all’estero, allo scopo di informare tempestivamente i Clienti e i Progettisti relativamente a nuovi prodotti e tecnologie che il Gruppo Polyglass ha sviluppato. Questi seminari, condotti con innovative tecnologie multimediali, hanno visto fino ad oggi la presenza di oltre ventimila Progettisti.

The Market ing Depar tment and Polyglass’ Technical Service organize seminars and conferences in Italy and abroad in collaboration with various Trade Associations, with the objective of promptly informing the Customers and the P lanners o f new products and technologies which the Polyglass Group has developed. As of today these seminars, carried out with the use of innovative multimedia technologies, have been attended by over twenty thousand Planners.
