COMPANY OVERVIEW SubC Solutions AS is a multi-discipline innovative engineering company and the core business focus has been within control system and has since the start-up in 2007 developed and qualified control system products that suits most of the subsea control needs. SubC Solutions endeavors to meet or exceed our client requirements and we often achieve this by combining innovation with field proven concepts and technology to solve our customers challenges. SubC Solutions is a provider of technical solutions, product development, manufacturing, engineering and test services covering several application areas. In addition to development and qualification of new solutions and products, SubC Solutions perform all kind of studies and consultancy work for customers, research projects and others. Historically our business has been focused on subsea technology, but we have recently entered the renewable energy market and have future growth ambitions in the green energy market. Our electrical valve actuator development may replace hydraulic operated actuators used subsea today and is a first step towards all electric solutions. In addition, we strive to use environmentally friendly materials that can be recycled at the end of its lifecycle.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS UNIVERSAL CONNECTION TOOL CONTROL SYSTEM Retrofitted control system for existing Universal Connection Tool for flow lines and umbilicals. Replaces obsolete control system from late 80s with smaller configurable system.

RETROFITTED COMMUNICATION SYSTEM EPC contract for 3 off complete retrofitted communication systems. Reduced the number of needed umbilical circuits on existing field and enabled tie-in of additional wells. The system is a transparent communication system integrated with existing subsea control system. System designed and qualified in accordance with ISO 13628-6 and Statoil TR-1233.

ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC CONTROL SYSTEMS Control systems used for pump control in advanced drilling system. Deliver encompass MCS, Topside Power and Communication Module, SEM’s, Hydraulic Control Unit, Subsea HPU, junction boxes and distribution system.

PIG TRACKING COMMUNICATION SYSTEM Communication system for subsea Pig detection installed on a 30km umbilical power cable and hooked up to the existing power line of an existing SCM using a filter module on the break-out connection. Topside communication unit was integrated in the existing control system, connected to the existing SCPU and the pig tracking control unit.

SUBSEA ACCUMULATOR MODULE Developed and assembled in cooperation with PSW Technology. The acoustic operated Subsea Accumulator Module (SAM) enables hydraulic power to BOP’s, SSD’s or WO systems. The system is primarily used for closing shear/seal pipe rams on a BOP.

PIG TRACKING SENSORS The sensor and PCB are developed and qualified in cooperation with our customer NOV. Compact magnetic sensors with drymate connector, multiple interfaces, and power options. Easy to customize design for other sensor types or interfaces. Can be used in stand-alone systems connected directly to topside or with a battery powered ROV display. The sensors can also interface existing subsea control system with several communication interface options.

SubC Solutions proprietary subsea control and monitoring system, CPod™, consists of configurable equipment such as Subsea Electronic Modules (SEM), Topside control equipment, Hydraulic Control Units (HCU), Subsea Hydraulic Pumps Units (SHPU), Electrical Valve Actuators (EVA), split boxes and other equipment. The CPod™ subsea control system can be configured for XT, WO, Drilling and to virtually any other subsea application. CPod subsea control system has been utilized in subsea XT control modules (SCM), production systems, pumping and balanced pressure drilling systems, pig detection systems, communication and monitoring systems to mention some of the applications.

CPOD ATMOSPHERIC CANISTERS

The subsea canister is available in several sizes and is configurable for different electronic rack configuration and penetration interfaces. Type of material can be Duplex, Titanium or other customer specified material. Our standard canister has an operational depth up to 3000m. The system is field proven has been supplied for several customers in past projects.

PRODUCT PORTFOLIO CPOD ELECTRONIC RACK

Configurable rack system for atmospheric enclosures ensures easy installation of subsea electronic boards and controllers. The unit is scalable to fit any purpose of communication, control, and monitoring. Design is optimized for heat transfer and vibration stability. Racks are qualified in accordance with API 17F, ISO 13628-6 and Equinor’s TR-1233. Different versions have been delivered for SCM’s, detection systems, pump systems and other subsea control, monitoring and communication applications.

CPOD TOPSIDE COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT

A complete unit that provides power supply and communication to the subsea system. The system is based on modular equipment with plug-in modules installed in standard 19” rack modules for easy installation and replacement. Components include modems, power filters, power supplies and communication controllers. Communication interfaces is serial port and Ethernet.

CPOD HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNITS

Subsea hydraulic manifolds and units designed in accordance with project and client requirements. Typically, hydraulic control units consist of DCVs, PT, flow meters for control and monitoring of subsea functionality. Can be supplied as a part of an installation structure or be ROV retrievable.

CPOD SUBSEA HYDRAULIC PUMP UNIT

Robust Subsea Hydraulic Pump Unit, SHPU, suitable for both mineral and water based hydraulic fluids. Configurable for working pressure between 207 to 345 barg. Currently, SHPU are used in pressure balanced drilling systems and can be used for WO and subsea HPU applications.

PRODUCT PORTFOLIO SUBSEA MODEM AND I/O CONTROLLER

Combined transparent power line modem and subsea controller ideal for control systems and can be used in coexistence with other control systems. The controller has switched 24V outputs and 4-20mA current loop inputs. Modem has transparent RS-232 and RS-485 connection for communications with 3. party sensors and equipment. In addition to power line modems, qualified fiber optic modems are also available. The I/O is configurable for any application.

SUBSEA ACTUATOR CONTROLLER

Controller board for electrical subsea actuators with fail safe functionality. Compact design with motor control, battery charging system and monitoring. Modbus ethernet and serial main communication. Optional CANbus, digital ON/OFF or 4-20mA actuator control.

POWER AND FILTER TECHNOLOGY

SubC Solutions has developed and qualified a range of power supplies, filters, transformers, and power switches to be used in conjunction with subsea control and monitoring system. System design ensures easy reconfiguration to meet system requirements.

CONFIGURABLE SUBSEA CONTROLLER

SubC Solutions in cooperation with National Instruments, utilizes a ruggedized and qualified standard COTS programmable controller for subsea use. The controller offers flexibility with configurable I/O modules and powerful signal processing.

PRODUCT PORTFOLIO ELECTRICAL VALVE ACTUATOR (EVA) SubC Solutions has designed a new type of subsea Electrical Valve Actuator for permanent or ROV retrievable installation. Ongoing qualification in accordance with API 17F and is expected to be qualified by end of 2020. The design is scalable and will be available from 50 Nm to 4000 Nm. EVA is available with battery packs for failsafe operation. Functionality includes open/close and choke operation with auto homing and position memory at power loss. Can be configured for multiturn or 90 degrees operation for different valve types. Flexible control interface with serial, Ethernet and CANbus communication. Optionally current loop or digital ON/OFF control.

SUBSEA COMMUNICATION GATEWAY Subsea communication gateway and power distribution module. Fiber/Ethernet input connection and communication routing to customer specified Ethernet and serial communication. I/O ports for instrumentation and control equipment.

SUBSEA CONTROL MODULES

SubC Solutions has the capabilities and knowledge to make tailor-made electro-hydraulic control modules. Either in a traditional SCM design or using an MQC plate with a bolted-on control unit. Our philosophy is to design for flexibility, scalability, utility and use standard DCV, flowmeters, pressure transmitters, and other hydraulic components. The I/O is scalable to fit any purpose. SubC Solutions has delivered SEM’s, which is included in SCM’s, DNV GL certified and with a track record.

PRODUCT PORTFOLIO SUBSEA TRAFO AND FILTER UNIT

A small ROV installable module that makes it possible to perform topside isolation testing past the step-down transformer. The unit can also be fitted with Line Isolation Monitoring on the power outputs, power switching, filtering, and monitoring of voltage and current. SubC Solutions has delivered modules with power filter for noise canceling between interconnected subsea systems, to replace a standard jumper cable with wetmate connectors.

SUBSEA ACCUMULATOR MODULE Developed and assembled in cooperation with PSW Technology. The acoustic operated Subsea Accumulator Module (SAM) enables hydraulic power to BOP, SSD or other well intervention systems. The system features a hydraulic accumulator bank with SubC Solutions CPod hydraulic control unit, controlled by an acoustic control system. The system can be configured to interface a plentitude of acoustic suppliers and can also be operated by use of an umbilical or cable.

SUBSEA STRUCTURES

JUNCTION BOXES

Various junction boxes for dry-mate and wet-mate connectors have been delivered to various projects for power and signal distribution. Junction boxes can be configured to suit any application.

UMBILICAL REEL CONSTANT TENSION SubC Solutions and PSW Power & Automation have developed a compact constant tension umbilical reel system with pneumatic control, torque limiter, break, cable length counter, slip ring and local / remote control panel. The reel assembly is DNV 2.7.3 certified and ATEX confirmed.
