INTRODUCTION

The company Končar – Generators and Motors represents an important part of the KONČAR Group, a leading regional manufacturer of the equipment and plants for generation, transmission and distribution of electric energy as well as of the equipment designed for application into transport and industry.

The scope of the activities of the company Končar – Generators and Motors is development, engineering and design, manufacturing, testing, installation, commissioning, servicing, overhauls, upgrading, revitalization and modernization of generators and motors.

Hydropower generation has been around since 1895 when Nikola Tesla and George Westinghouse built the first hydro-electric power plant in 1895 in Niagara Falls and started the electrification of the world. Hundreds of hydrogenerators installed more than 60 years ago still operate across the world, using the old technology.

2.3. Human resourcesThe main advantage of Končar – Generators and Motors are our committed employees. Experienced and dedicated employees in synergy with their ability to satisfy customers’ expectations distinguish us from our competitors.

Attracting, developing and retaining highly motivated people are among our highest priorities. We also believe that mobility and flexibility are crucial for development of professional skills and career as well.

Out of 507 employees, 163 hold a university or higher degree, 224 are high school technicians and 81 are highly skilled qualified workers.

2.4. Research and developmentTechnological development constantly stimulates R&D actions. 3. PRODUCTION PROGRAM

3.2. HydrogeneratorsGenerators have always been one of the core products of the KONČAR

Group production portfolio. Our experts incorporate technological progresses in line with

customers’ needs and their specific demands on the bases of their knowledge and experience.

High tech materials and a wide range of technical parameters are used in production with up to 300 MVA

3.2.1. Large and medium hydrogenerators

Production of large and medium generators comprises of development, design, manufacture, assembly and commissioning and aftersales service of hydrogenerators. More than 510 delivered hydrogenerators all over the world.

3.3. TurbogeneratorsThe total of 175 gas-powered and steam-powered turbogenerators were installed with total power of 5720 MVA. Today, focus is on servicing of turbogenerators produced by KONČAR – Generators and Motors and other manufacturers.

3.4. MotorsKONČAR – Generators and Motors produces low voltage and high voltage squirrel cage and slip ring induction motors up to 10 MW for various purposes. Special motors like explosion proof motors, marine motors, shaftless motors for compressors, traction motors are also part of company production program.

Motors have up to date design, high efficiency level and adaptability to various requirements, low maintenance costs, long life and other technical characteristic which completely meet the requirements of electrical drives for pumps, mills, fans, crushers, conveyers and compressors.

Synchronous motors with brushless or static excitation can be manufactured.

Over 130 hydrogenerators for small hydropower plants with the total installed capacity of 310 MVA from 0.5 to 10 MVA, and speeds up to 1000 rpm suitable for Francis, Kaplan and Pelton turbines have been produced in the last decade.

KONČAR- Generators and Motors compact type synchronous and asynchronous generators are up to date designed with high degree of efficiency, insulation class F or H, with VPI or resin rich technology, which fully meet the electrical requirements when operating on grid or in island mode.

KONČAR – Generators and Motors produces vertical, horizontal and bulb type generators for small hydropower plants, voltages from 400V up to 13,8 kV, open and totally- enclosed cooling system, rolling and sleeve bearings.
