Hi, My Name is Darcy Thring and in this presentation I will be marketing the Dart, 5 ft Compact and completely mechanical No Till Seed Drill which I believe would help agricultural companies and individual farmers throughout the developing nation of Nepal.1

Nepal is a small country land locked between India and China. It has subtropical climate but is very rugged and mountainous along the northern border. Therefore, most of the countries crops are grown in the bottom 2/3 of the country. Here farm land ranges from being very flat to very hilly. As of now the Nepalese farmers use very basic implements along with oxen and lots of manual labor to live sustainable farming lives. However, there has been a recent push to develop agriculture in Nepal and many farmers have began to form co-operative groups to pool money in order to buy more modern equipment so they can avoid such intensive manual labor agriculture- which is mainly preformed by women and children.2Based in Burnaby, British ColumbiaCompletely Canadian

Advertising themselves as a completely Canadian company (Based in Burnaby BC), they sight all of their raw materials (steels, plastics, rubber, etc) from other Canadians and do all the manufacturing here as well!

In 2011 Clean seed capital launched a very simple, relatively low cost, compact no till seed drill named the Dart, with hopes of increasing productivity such as crop yields while reducing manual labor in developing nations. Their primary targets were agriculturally struggling nations throughout Africa.

Today Clean Seed Capital still produces the Dart- upon rquest. 3Significant Features:Light weightOnly 15 hp requiredCould be pulled by a team of three oxenAll Mechanical SystemMaking it very simpleFertilizes Seed Bed (if wanted)Plants in almost any condition (wet or dry)Plants a variety of seed including;RiceMustardCornWheatSoybeanVariety of Vegetable Crops

THIS MACHINE IS A LABOUR SAVERhttps://yt3.ggpht.com/-iLUkXJVSfaM/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/WpuJVPgRg84/s88-c-k-no/photo.jpghttp://www.cleanseedcapital.com/arrow8.html

The Dart has a variety of special features which makes it ideal for use in less intensive cropping systems. What separates this planter from the competition is that it is simple.Functioning completely mechanically results in fewer breakdowns and simple/cheap repairs if it were too malfunction. And even though this planter is very basic it has shown to improve yields and decrease time of planting significantly in numerous planting conditions: rather it be very wet or extremely dry soil this no till planter has the potential of turning planting times from days into hours. Also because this is a no till planter it reduces weeds, prevents the need to cultivate (which is very costly in fuel, time and labour) reduces erosion and fertilizer runoff and helps to retain soil nutrition. Not only does this save environment, time and input cost but also unnecessary hard work from women and children. 4132http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Cargo_ship_exiting_Vancouver's_harbour.jpghttp://www.thehindu.com/business/Economy/china-grows-77-per-cent-in-2013-slowest-since-1999/article5596150.ecehttp://www.ndtv.com/article/india/train-tickets-freight-tariff-to-be-costlier-from-today-348510http://www.d3noob.org/2013/03/a-simple-d3js-map-explained.html

To get the product to nepal requires 3 main steps:After being trucked 20 minutes to vancouver harbour (from the Clean Seed Capital Plant) the planter would be loaded onto a freight liner (in a shipping container) and sent across the pacific. After a close to a 1 month journey the container would be unloaded at Indias Kolkata Sea Port. From Here the container can be loaded directly onto a freight train and sent 1500 kilometers north to Nepal. At this point the actual planters could be distributed to customers- most likely farm co-operatives who have come together to make the purchase.

5After Shipping the Dart would retail for approximately 750000 Rupees ($8300 CAN).

Remember this product has no ongoing costs once it is delivered except for fuel (if tractors are being used) and that this is a viable price for a co-operative group of farmers.15hp tractor uses approximately 2.75L of fuel/hr.936 rupeesThis planter can sew 1 ha/hr (depending on soil conditions).

To manually seed a 1 ha field takes anywhere between 4-7 days.

By saving days worth of hard manual labour, both the farmer and their workers would be able to invest their efforts towards other needs/priorities.

With this tool nepal can go from having sustainable peoples within their nation, to a sustainable Nation, that wont have to import food, deal with hunger or rely on intensive manual labour. And by selling this planter through an all canadian company, we can help our own industries and fellow canadians by providing international sales to nepal and other countries struggling to keep up with todays most depended upon industry: Agriculture.
