Community Outreach Holiday Tent
December 2019
This year is Metropolitan Ministries 24th year serving families during the Holiday season. Metropolitan Ministries expects 18,000 families to come to the holiday tent for help with Thanksgiving and/ or Christmas this year. The families come for both food and gifts.
Corbett prep families and children 8 years and older can volunteer to serve in the Holiday Tent. As volunteers, we sort food and toys, greet families, help families shop for food and toys, place items in cars, and serve families refreshments while they wait for their turn to shop.
Last year, we had over 80 Corbett Prep families and children come and volunteer with us!
Children ages 8 and older are welcome to attend, but must be registered separately and have a waiver signed by the parent/ guardian.

Welcome to the Community School of the Arts at Corbett Preparatory School of IDS. Participating in the arts can be one of life’s most joyful experiences. Our CSA students prove that each and every session! Research shows that sustained involvement in the arts provides numerous intrinsic benefits. The arts promote cognitive development, health benefits, positive growth in behavior and attitude, and strong, long-term connections with the arts community.
The Community School of the Arts has been serving the community for 15 years through programs ranging from guided exploration for young children, traditional classes and lessons, innovative seminars, and numerous performing opportunities. Note the three sections offered in this brochure: 1) Music Classes; 2) Dance Classes; 3) Musical Theatre.
Come, discover your creative genius.

Study Options
PRIVATE LESSONS: The one-on-one contact between teacher and student in the traditional private lesson allows the instruction to be catered to the student’s unique needs. This is the best choice for motivated students at any level of experience. Private lessons are scheduled once each week for thirty minutes. ($360 per trimester)
PAIR LESSONS: Two students and a teacher meet for thirty minutes once each week in pair lessons. This arrangement offers the flexibility of allocating part of the lesson to each student, working with both students together, and having the students coach each other under the direct supervision of a teacher. The social aspect of pair lessons is motivating to many students. ($250 for each student per trimester)
CLASS LESSONS: Small groups of students work with the teacher and each other in class lessons. The teacher sets the pace for each student. Older, more advanced students build their mastery by coaching younger, less experienced students. This provides an ideal introductory experience for many students. ($150 per trimester)

What’s New in CSA
Expressive Arts Grades 2-5. Wednesday, 5:00-5:55. This class gets students tapped into their creative and spontaneous minds. Each hour session has a movement or improv-based activity with students working together as a group to complete tasks that encourages community building. Students will then reflect on that activity through visual artwork either individually or through a piece of art created by the group. Taught by Ashley Lord.
CSA Musical Theatre Show- Imaginary! (Produced through special permission from Theatrical Rights Worldwide)
Open to Kindergarten-12th Grade students
IMAGINARY is an exciting, funny and inspiring musical about the wonder of childhood, the power of the imagination and what it means to grow up.
If Matilda, Peter Pan, School of Rock, and Monsters Inc. combined into one musical, it would be Imaginary!! Milo is Sam’s only friend and they spend all their time together, using only their imaginations to transform their world into a place of adventure and excitement. But as Sam’s first day at a new school approaches, his mother worries that Milo is holding her child back. School turns out to be full of surprises– and secrets. With a cast of adults and kids, IMAGINARY centers on an enduring friendship with other-worldly twists and turns that change lives forever. To learn more about the show, visit www.theatricalrights.com and search for Imaginary. Cast album is also available on Apple Music. Search for Imaginary a New Musical.
