STUDENT OF THE WEEK AWARDS

Year 7 Class (Mr Braun/Mrs Whitehead) Research Skills - Harley Robinson. Harley did a great job of gathering information on his visit to the

Waikerie Water Treatment Plant. When he returned to school he was able to record down, in his own

words, any important information. Well done Harley!

Self-Management Skills - Latia Loffler. Latia has continued to use her time very well on Thursdays for our

Exhibition day. She sets realistic goals that are achievable and works hard to successfully complete

them. Great work ethic Latia!

Thinking Skills - Amity Burns. Amity used great thinking skills to think about how she could use her

information found in Exhibition in a meaningful way. Well done Amity!

Year 5/6 Class (Mrs Lloyd/Mrs Whitehead) Social Skills - Chantelle Shaw. Chantelle offered her help to a classmate in such a positive manner that it

brightened up her day. Chantelle also demonstrated great creativity fashioning a glove out of material

in a well-being task. Keep it up Chantelle!

Thinking Skills - Verity Mee. Verity is always thinking about her learning and trying to understand

information presented. When she is unsure she will ask her peers and teacher to explain. Keep up that

thinking, Verity!

Year 3/4 Class (Mr Fladrich) Love and Learning Award - Ava McKenzie-Hefford. Ava is challenging herself by doing the Year 4 division

during table practise. Great to see you being a risk-taker! Well done Ava!

Research Skills - Evie Matthews. Evie did a great job researching Aboriginal symbols and their meaning,

and then used them to create an excellent Dreamtime storyline. Well done Evie!

Year 1/2 Class (Mrs Waterson/Mrs Paschke) Thinking Skills - Isla Cole. Isla has demonstrated some good thinking skills when doing her rapid writing.

She has been carefully thinking about the size of her letters and her word placement. Well done Isla!

Communication Skills - Caleb Lloyd. Caleb demonstrated some excellent communication skills during

our rapid writing. He wrote an informative and creative text about a dog that turned into another

creature. Well done Caleb!

Foundation (Miss Driver) Self-Management Skills - Seth Slater-Herzog. This term Seth has been doing a great job at organising

himself for school. He is successfully working within the classroom to look after his belongings and is

getting to school on time and ready to learn. Well done Seth!

Social Skills - Lilianna Bond. Lilianna has been doing a wonderful job establishing her friendships within

the class. She is developing meaningful relationships and using her bubbly personality to reach out to

others. Well done Lilianna!

CORNER OF PEACE

Our loving God is very clear about this. No vengeance, no bearing grudges, no

judgement, no condemnation and no evil deeds. God’s way of

uncompromising and unconditional love is the standard to reach for. In so

doing we reap an extra benefit as medical experts have found that

negative emotions make us sick both physically and mentally.

God bless you all this week!

Moira

To commemorate our school’s 40th Anniversary, a year book is currently under development. This book

will include a bit about the history of WLPS, as well as provide a snap shot of what has been happening in

our school during 2019 - classroom information, sporting achievements, special days and more.

A mock up of the Year Book will be available to have a look at in the office as of next week. Since this is

a work in progress, some pages will still be blank (ie . swimming program, Splash Carnival, Year 3/4

Camp) as they have not yet happened. An order form will be sent home before the end of the year as

we will be seeking pre-orders, along with payment, for the Year Book by the end of the year.

The Year Book will be printed and distributed at the beginning of the 2020 school year.

COVER COMPETITION Thank you to the students who entered the cover competition for the 2019 Year Book. The

entries look fantastic and it is going to be a very hard decision for the selection committee. A

mock up of the cover and the winner will be announced in next week’s Newsletter.
