HOUSING DEPOSITS• Application and a $150 deposit (PAY ONLY ONCE) must be submitted

before a room assignment can be considered.

• Application are submitted electronically. To apply for campus housing, please go to braveweb.uncp.edu and, using your BraveWeb credentials, log into Odyssey HMS and click on the Campus Housing Application link.

• You will be notified via email (at your BraveMail address) when we have received your application. Your assignment will be emailed to you during the first week in July. If you have any additional questions, you may contact us at 910.775.4253 or 910.521.6228. Or by email at [email protected].

Freshman Residency Requirement• First year freshman are required

to reside on campus for their initial academic year.

• Attendance during MayMester, Summer Sessions, programs at UNCP or other institutions do not apply toward the fulfillment of this requirement.

Waiver• A student requesting a waiver must complete the

“Freshmen Housing Waiver Application” and submit it to the Office of Housing and Residence Life

• The waiver should be submitted by July 31 for students beginning the fall semester. The waiver form may be obtained from the Housing website at uncp.edu/resources/forms

• Students who do not submit a waiver by the July 31 deadline will automatically be be assigned housing and be billed accordingly

ROOMMATE ASSIGNMENTS

• Students can request a specific roommate of the same gender.

• While consideration is given to a roommate request, it may not be possible to grant requests received after June 1.

• Living with roommates isn’t always easy. • Sharing a living space may be stressful,

and conflicts may arise. • If conflict arises, residents are expected to

handle situations regarding roommates maturely and respectfully.

• However, if roommates are unable to resolve their differences, the Housing and Residence Life Staff are trained to assist them with finding a fair resolution utilizing our mediation process.

ROOM ASSIGNMENTS

• Assignment information, sent via Bravemailduring the first week of July, includes the name of the residential community, room number, roommates name, and other contact information.

• Students can contact each other and begin discussing what to bring.

Things to Know

• Refrigerator: One per resident not to exceed 4.5 cubic feet

• Microwave: One per room, not to exceed 1200 watts. Not permitted in North or Belk Halls (a microwave has been installed on each floor)

Laundry• All residence halls have laundry facilities within the

• Village Apartments has a laundry facility located in the community building.

• Courtyard Apartments has a washer and dryer located in each individual apartment at no additional cost

Safety & Security• Belk, North, Oak, Cypress, and Pine Hall residents must use their Braves

card for access to their facility. They cannot access other residence hallswith their Braves card

• Cameras cover entrances to halls, stairwells, elevators, and lobby areas

• Fire drills are conducted in all residential communities

• Emergency egress doors in all halls are alarmed

• The department and University have a hurricane evacuation plan

• Residential facilities have staff assigned to the front desks during day &evening hours

• Campus police officers assigned to residential communities during eveninghours

• RHA and Hall Councils both provide great opportunities for students to become involved either through participation in a variety of programs and events or serving in one of the many leadership roles available.
