Purpose of Community Forums

Open Forums:

● Engage a variety of stakeholders to inform and shape the reopening and stimulus spending

● Inform the school community about current guidelines and protocols

● Surveys to engage the community to gather feedback

● Provide a forum to answer questions and hear concerns

● Celebrate our success and communicate our plan

Schedule of Forums

Timeline for Meetings (6:00 pm):

● Community Forum #1 - June 23

● Community Forum #2 - July 14

● Community Forum #3 - August 4

● Community Forum #4 - August 25

Fall 2021 - Reopening

Reopening Plan (Fall 2021) - Assumptions

● All students K-12 will return to full time in-person instruction

● Core/special content areas to resume in-person instruction

● Configuration returns to K-6 & 7-12 buildings

● Athletics & extracurriculars will resume in-person

● Continuing Education will be evaluated based on cleaning protocols and restrictions

● Some Covid restrictions may remain in place○ Social distancing will be reduced○ Mask wearing will still be required○ Transportation○ Surveillance Testing

Reopening Plan (Fall 2021) - Assumptions

● Last week’s changes to guidance for summer school - Sign of things to come?

● We are currently awaiting guidance from:○ The New York State Department of Health○ The New York State Education Department

● As we have done for the past 15 months - the guidance will inform our reopening plan

New CDC Guidance - July 9

Link to new CDC guidance for schools

● It is likely NYS will incorporate many of the CDC recommendations for schools

● Key elements of new guidance:

○ Children under age 12 are still not currently eligible for the vaccine

○ Transmission levels in schools tend to be lower than community transmission levels

○ Using multiple prevention strategies together is recommended to help protect unvaccinated individuals (students, faculty, & staff).

● Recommendations for schools:

○ Promoting vaccination○ Consistent and correct mask use - especially for unvaccinated○ Physical Distancing○ Screening testing for unvaccinated students, faculty, & staff ○ Ventilation○ Handwashing and respiratory etiquette○ Staying home when sick or symptomatic○ Contact tracing including isolation and quarantine○ Cleaning and disinfecting

● Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSA)● American Rescue Act

How are we planning to use the Stimulus?

● Money will be used from stimulus to pay for

○ One time additional costs○ Enhanced program/opportunities○ Initiatives to assist with learning loss

● Sustainability

● Avoid the financial cliff

How do we approach the spending of money to:

● Improve teaching and learning ● Improve processes and access to information -

identify learning gaps and address● Leverage systems and resources to improve

teaching and learning● Focus on the social-emotional/Mental Health of

students, faculty, and staff ● Invest in our employees to help sustain once

money is gone

● Survey to school community to gather feedback and to help determine priorities

● Survey to Faculty - regarding ideas to address learning loss caused by the pandemic

● Multiple meetings with the Administrative Team to discuss ideas

● Information is being compiled and prioritized to help shape plan

● Plan will be posted on the district website
