WHO ARE WE?
Our aim is to plan for and empower the people of Shellharbour to support healthy, inclusive, creative, vibrant and safe neighbourhoods and communities.
Using an Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) model, we focus on identifying the collective strengths, skills and assets within our community and build on these.
The team is made up of 7 community enthusiasts who work across a number of core activities.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT & CAPACITY BUILDINGAileen works to support and facilitate a range of community led and place based programs and events celebrating local people and places. She also undertakes initiatives that contribute to Shellharbour being a child friendly city.

COMMUNITY SAFETY & CRIME PREVENTION Meegan implements a range of community safety initiatives in line with council’s Crime Prevention and Community Safety Strategies. This includes graffiti management, good neighbour projects and provision of community safety and crime prevention information.

ARTS & CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT Sarah develops and implements a range of programs, events and strategies which reflect the cultural aspirations of Shellharbour. This includes managing the Shellharbour Village Exhibition Space, our first and only public exhibition space.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS & NETWORKS This position facilitates a range of interagency and partnership networks as well as our community website Shellharbour Connect. They also support community organisations to seek grants for the expansion of local community initiatives.

COMMUNITY PLANNING & STRATEGY Lauren provides advice and advocates on the changing social needs and demographics of the Shellharbour community. She is also implementing a range of community wellbeing programs to support healthy ageing.

ABORIGINAL LIAISON & INITIATIVES Veronica implements a range of community events and activities that celebrate and support the local Aboriginal community. She also ensures Aboriginal culture and heritage is considered in current and future planning.
