Changes to CFEP The Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) funding provides financial assistance to acquire, build, purchase, repair, renovate, upgrade or expand sports, rec-reational, cultural or other related public-use community facilities.
CFEP aims to foster healthy, vibrant communities across Alberta. The program has been designed to support organi-zations as they take action to contribute and create oppor-tunities for Albertans to engage with their communities.
The program has recently undergone modifications and there are changes to the application deadlines. CFEP now has two funding streams: Small Funding Stream (up to $125,000) and Large Funding Stream ($125,001-$1 Million). The application deadlines will also be changing.
These changes may impact when your organization can ap-ply for funding and it’s important to be aware of these new deadlines.

Snow Removal for Community HallsParkland County Public Works Department is responsible for snow removal on over 2000 kms of County roads. A priority system is in place to provide the quickest service to the greatest number of residents.
Major snowfalls in order of priority:• Arterial roads• Collector roads• Local and subdivision roads• Community halls and churches
If your community hall requires snow removal:Contact the Parks, Recreation & Culture Department at 780-968-8400 or email: [email protected] Crews will do their best to accomodate your requests; however, please note that roads remain the first priority. You may need to hire a contractor if you have an event or require immediate assistance.
Reminder: If your property has a locked gate, please ensure a labelled key is dropped off at the County office. Be sure to mark obstacles such as wellheads and fencelines, etc. with flags for operator visibility.
A Parkland County fire inspector will be contacting all the community halls to book fire inspections over the next several weeks. Fire inspections are per-formed on an annual basis, with the exception of halls equipped with commercial kitchens ( done semi-annually).
For more information: Please contact Don Degenhardt; Captain, Fire Prevention Branch, Parkland County Fire Services: 780-910-1715 or Main: 780-968-8338.

Community Hall Insurance Forms
Has anyone ever slipped on the ice at your hall? Have you ever been cleaning up and tweaked your back or squished your finger? Did you know it is important to contact your insurance provider when this occurs?
This Incident Report Form provided by your in-surance provider, Jubliee Insurance, allows you to keep track of incidents that may have future medi-cal or insurance impacts to you or your patrons. It is good practice to complete these forms, share them with your CDC, review at your board meeting, and file with your minutes. If you already have an inci-dent report form, great! There are many variations that work.

Do you often wonder if someone has checked the hall? Actually checked it? And do they know what to check? What to look for? How often to check? And who to report it to?
Use this Pre-event or Quarterly Checklist provided by Jubliee Insurance, review at your board meet-ing, and file with your minutes. If you already have a checklist, great! There are many variations of this checklist that work.

For Playschools:
New science tells us that our children’s first years are when they develop the foundation for all future learning. Every time we connect with them, it’s not just their eyes that light up—it’s their brains too. In these moments, half a million neurons fire at once, taking in all the things we say and do. We can’t see it hap-pening, but it’s all there at work. Vroom has a ton of resources for parents, caretakers, family and friends who interact with children. Check it out: http://www.joinvroom.org/
Alberta Parenting for the Future offers an as-sortment of programs for parents, families and children. Check out their Winter 2017 Program Schedule: http://apfa.ca/

Non-Profit Energy Efficiency Transition (NEET) ProgramNon-profit and volunteer agencies will benefit from a $1-million grant to complete energy efficiency audits. Organizations can save money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by determining areas for energy efficiency improvements.
The Non-Profit Energy Efficiency Transition (NEET) Program will provide funding to help non-profit and volunteer groups determine how efficient their current lighting, heat-ing, cooling and hot water systems are. Equipped with audit information, agencies can then take advantage of Energy Efficiency Alberta’s Business, Non-Profit and Institutional Rebate Program, which offers incentives for the purchase and installation of high-efficiency products.
