Dear reader,

Why incorporate Golf into your next meeting? Golf plays an important role in business as a binding agent. Its popularity and international appeal make it an effective means for developing customers, building teams and retaining top talent across all industries; and major corporations have long used golf tournament sponsorships and customer events to build their brands and promote their products. Those few hours shared playing golf have been the beginning of countless business relationships, friendships, collaborations and referrals.

As you realize, corporate meetings and events held at golf resorts deliver many important benefits. Not only can golf be successfully incorporated into a variety of meetings and events, but it can also be tailored to appeal to an array of attendee profiles and demographics. The flexibility of the golf experience, combined with the unique setting inherently offered by golf resorts, results in an opportunity for attendees to be part of an unforgettable experience. Golf’s use as an effective business tool continues to grow and spread!

matched ocean and lagoon holes, had

top courses in Mexico and the Cancun

golf course most appealing to today’s

discriminating golfers. You’ll play

Greg Norman's First Nine Holes Opens in the Riviera Nayarit

Vallarta Nayarit is getting positioned as an imminent Golf destination, at an accelerated pace. The

hottest news is the opening of the first nine holes of Grupo Vidanta’s Golf course. This new course

combines two of the world’s top names in golf course design - Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman.

From it, you will admire the fantastic vegetation and wildlife of the region – including crocodiles and

birds.

Greg Norman Signature courses

usually increase in difficulty the closer

you are to the hole, while those

designed by Jack Nicklaus tend to

swing left to right with more

undulations, to mention just a few

outstanding characteristics.

The following 9 holes are programmed

to open by summer this year. Get in

April 2016 Costa Rica

Carefully tucked into the natural surroundings,

Costa Rican courses vary from rolling fairways,

lined with rare tropical hardwoods, to open links

styles nestled between mountains and flowering

valleys with challenging greens overlooking

sandy beaches and the ocean.

The first nine-hole golf course appeared in

Costa Rica in the 1940’s in the Country Club just

outside San Jose, and it remained the only one

until Cariari Country Club built its own around

1970. Then the tourist boom in the 90’s resulted

in many more first-class courses being built

around gorgeous locations or within five-star

hotels, thus allowing the avid golfer to open his

eyes facing not only a marvelous sunrise, but a

beautiful 18 hole course. Some of the best golf courses in Costa Rica are:

Four Seasons Peninsula Papagayo, Guanacaste

(designed by Arnold Palmer)

Hacienda Pinilla, Guanacaste

(designed by Mike Young)

Reserva Conchal, Guanacaste

(designed by Robert Trent Jones,Jr)

Los Sueños, Jacó

(designed by Ted Robinson)

CQ: How long have you been working in the

Golf industry?

GP: I have been working in the Golf industry

since 1978. My first golf job was at Sandpiper

Golf Club located in Santa Barbara California. I

turned pro, receiving my PGA membership in

1989.

CQ: How long have you been working at

Mayakoba?

GP: As of June 2016 I will fulfill 3 years working

at the Mayakoba. For 5 years previous to this I

was working for the Ibeorstar.

CQ: Mayakoba’s unique golf course was

designed by whom? Please tell us the

characteristics of Mayakoba’s course.

GP: El Camaleón Mayakoba is a Greg Norman

design. Greg Norman is a world renowned golf

tour professional and golf course designer. El

Camaleón Golf Club is well reputed among golf’s

finest players boasting a spectacular layout

winding about the tropical Mayan Riviera jungle

and the mangrove before boldly stretching to the

beautiful pristine Caribbean Sea.

CQ: Which tournaments do you hold or have

been held at Mayakoba?

GP: This year we are the host site for the World

Team Amatuer Championship 2016 and the

National Junior Championship, El Camaleón

is also the home site for the OHL Classic at

Mayakoba. This is noteworthy because the OHL

classic at Mayakoba is the only official PGA

TOUR event held outside the U.S.A. or Canada.

CQ: What is the importance of golf in the M&E

industry, for example can you tell us some

benefits you have noticed for groups that

have incorporated golf in their agendas?

GP: Corporate Groups are the meat and

potatoes for El Camaleon and most destination

resort golf facilities. Golf is a great activity for

corporate companies to offer their

head executives and employees, In my many

years in this industry I have noticed that even for

the non-golfers it offers a great teambuilding

option as it gets everyone interacting. For such

non-golfers we also offer golf putting tournaments

and golf clinics as phenomenal teambuilding

options.

Despite all the bad news about lost luggage, the good news is

most luggage is not lost… it’s only delayed (the airlines call it

misrouted). Most of the time, this means your bags have simply

visited a different city (sorry, no extra frequent flier miles for the

detour). Less frequently, this may mean our luggage has been

stolen or permanently misrouted.

The other good news about misrouted luggage is, with the

advent zebra-tried bar codes and sophisticated scanning

devices, bags that have gone stray are often quickly located and

redirected to you within hours. (Taken from page 134)
