Dr. Enright is the Executive Director of the Lake Institute on Faith & Giving at the Cen- ter on Philanthropy at Indiana University, and former Senior Pastor of Second Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis. Women’s Bible Study Wednesdays, April 7–May 12, 1-2:30PM inE105PILLARS OF FAITH—This series explores the factors whichshaped the face of Christianity. It provides a powerfulrecord of those who changed our world by their faith. In theseveral-hundred year period after the crucifixion of Christ,his followers were an often-persecuted band of believers.We’ll discuss the contributions of the desert fathers, St.Patrick and St. Brigid, Joan of Arc, Archbishop Romero andDietrich Bonhoeffer, to name a few. Their stories are tes-taments to the depth of their convictions. Led by Terri Coe,Director of Adult Ministries.

1st Graders Viewing BaptismsChildren in first grade attending 9:30AM Sunday Schoolwill view baptisms with their class on April 25. Also, all 11AMElementary Sunday School participants will view baptismsthat day. Children will meet their teachers at the right sideof the Sanctuary and will be escorted to a reserved pew.Children will participate in the service, view baptisms, andthen be escorted back to class for their lesson.

Communion in Children's ChurchElementary Children will be remembering the Last Supperand Jesus' love for us by having Holy Communion in Chil-dren's Church at 9:30 and 11AM on May 2. We hope thiswill be a meaningful experience during the Lenten Season.

Childcare on EasterChildcare is available each Sunday at 8:15AM for chil-dren up to age 5. Childcare will be available at 9:30 &11AM for children up to age 3. Sunday School will beoffered for children age 3 (by 9/1/09) through pre-kindergarten. Students in kindergarten-grade 5 will jointheir parents for worship.

Easter Volunteers NeededWe are seeking volunteers to assist in childcare, pre-school and pre-Kindergarten rooms on Easter Sunday,April 4 for the 8:15, 9:30 and 11:00 services. We ex-pect a large number of children on Easter Sunday. Ifyou are able to help our youngest members, pleasecontact Janet Miller at 845-2745 x327 to volunteer.

Sunday School on Easter SundayChildcare is available for all three services for infantsthrough age 5. Children in Kindergarten through Grade5 are invited to worship with their parents. RegularSunday School will be meeting for Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten classes at 9:30 & 11AM.

Race Day ActivitiesOur Sunny Summer programs will begin Sunday, May 30.Preschool and Pre-K classes will need volunteers to supervise children in the movie and play room (E110). Sunny Summer Sunday School Teachers Needed Sunny Summer Sundays is our summer Sunday School pro-gramming. We are in need of teachers for Preschool andPre-K classes, and Elementary (K-5th grade) activities inthe Great Hall. Please brighten a child's day with your lovethis summer. Summer Splash - Heroes Headquarters Formerly known as VCS, Summer Splash will be an awe-some adventure as we learn how we can be God's UnknownHeroes on Earth. Summer Splash will be June 21-25, 9AM-

Noon. We will be registering childrenand volunteers in the East Passagebeginning April 4. Children age 4 (by9/1/10) through Grade 5 are welcometo participate. Parent’s Night OutNeed a date night, but childcare is an issue? Parent’sNight Out (PNO) is for you! PNO is run by parents for par-ents. It is an organized group childcare co-op that runs onescheduled Saturday evening a month from 5:30-9PM wherePNO members bring their children to the church preschoolarea for organized, fun childcare provided by other mem-bers of the PNO group. Each parent works two Saturdayevenings a year in exchange for the rest of the PNO Satur-days free to go out without their children. The only cost is

an annual $25 supply/snack fee. The PNO year runs August-July, and registration is required.

New member registration is Sunday, April 25 after the 9:30and 11:00 services at the PNO table in the East Passage. Ifyou have any questions prior to registration, please emailJackie Vaughn and Lisa Sims at [email protected] orcheck the St. Luke’s website www.stlukesumc.com.

Children’s Weekday Preschool & Parents’ Day OutOpen registration for 2010-11 school year. For informationcall 844-3399 or contact Bobbi at [email protected] or Alison at [email protected].

Parents’ Day OutClasses (9AM-1PM) are offered for children ages 10months to 3 years. PDO was established to provide parentsof young children time for themselves on a regular basis.Children participate in structured play in a safe and nur-turing Christian environment one, two, or three days perweek. Opportunities are provided for children to learn be-ginning social skills while having fun. Children must be 10months by 9/1/10 to enroll for the 2010-11 school year.

PreschoolClasses (9AM-1PM) for three- to five-year olds are offeredin a safe and nurturing Christian environment. All teachersare experienced, qualified, well-trained, and strive to maintain strong relationships with the children and theirfamilies. Preschool offers a developmentally appropriatecurriculum where children may grow socially, creatively,emotionally, cognitively, and physically. Children must be 3years old by 9/1/10 to enroll for the 2010-11 school year.

Habitat for HumanitySt. Luke’s is collaborating with other UnitedMethodist churches to build a two-story, four-

bedroom home at 3233 N. Capitol in the fall of 2010 for a deserving family. In addition to providing construction vol-unteers, St. Luke’s has committed to contribute at least$5,000 toward the build. On May 23, volunteers will beselling 2x4 wooden boards for $52 each which can besigned and will become a part of the home constructionwith the proceeds going toward sponsorship. Children’s Choir Flower Sale ReturnsStudents in the Children’s Choirs are again taking orders for spring flowersand bedding plants through April 20. Plants include the most popular varieties offered in flats, pots and hanging baskets. Choir families will betaking orders in the East and West Passages on Sunday, April 11 and Sun-day, April 18, or you may access an order form at www.stlukesumc.com/generated/files/flowersale.pdf. Orders must be prepaid and turned in to achoir member or the church office by April 20. Flower pick up is scheduledfor Sunday, May 2, 8:30AM-Noon at Door 16, just in time for Mother’s Dayand prime planting season here in Central Indiana. FOX HILL BOOK FAIR NEEDS VOLUNTEERSThe Fox Hill Book Fair will be April 12-16. Construction MinistryTurn the World Upside Down starting in your own backyard. St. Luke’s Construc-tion Ministry focuses on building wheelchair ramps for special-needs situations in

the Indianapolis area. We partner with Second Presbyterian Church and work as a teameach Saturday to design, build and assemble ramps. Referrals come from the IndianaCouncil on Aging as well as other social service agencies. Priorities are given to handi-capped clients who have no means of getting in and out of their homes.

Fox Hill Elementary School PartnershipDo you know you can Turn the World Upside Down by help-ing one child? Getting to know a child and becoming apositive influence in his or her life can turn his or her lifetowards a better direction. Ways to get involved:

PEER CLUBTuesday mornings from 8-8:45, Fox Hill secondgraders are paired with a middle school student or

adult volunteer for 45 minutes of one-on-one reading at Peer Club. If you are interested in reading with a student each Tuesday morning, contact Katy McMurray at [email protected] or 253-6480.

LUNCH BUNCHIf you are interested in being a mentor, role modelor just making a new friend with a 4th or 5th grader
