3 Hour Workshop Storyboard and Narrative Exercise

Teacher interviews each student during workshop

1. Teacher Demonstration 2. Students work through exercise:

• Assemble a series of images into ‘narrative’ structure

• Select suitable shot types • Add direction arrows and directorial

instructions • Write detailed explanation of concept,

overall storyline & context of chosen images within the story

Student presents to teacher: 1. A short film/music video/abstract film:

• Candidate was primarily responsible for the filming and editing

• Quicktime/Mpeg4/DVD format compatible • 90 seconds to 3 minutes

AND/OR

2. An example of a critique or film deconstruction written by the candidate on any aspect of film that illustrates their understanding of film techniques

2 Hour Workshop Designing Solutions to Problems

Teacher interviews each student during workshop

Presented with product design problems, create and evaluate possible solutions.

Student presents to teacher: Portfolio: •Original design ideas (hard copy or digital form) and/or •Original products and designs previously completed. Designs could include useful products, fashion items, manufacturing techniques, plans, design sketches, CAD drawings – any evidence of a design process.

Interview: Be prepared to speak about your portfolio & discuss the design process you undertook in the workshop.

2 Hour Workshop Studio Workshop

All candidates will participate in a group studio workshop where they will be presented with media techniques and an art concept and asked to put these into practice. The candidate should be prepared to speak about their portfolio and discuss the creative processes they undertook in the workshop.

Candidates are invited to bring a portfolio of your original artwork either as hard copy or as digital photographs of your original artwork. Digital photographs are to jpegs 300dpi and saved on a Apple compatible USB. The portfolio could include a range of Visual Arts (Design – Graphic, Fashion, Games, Costume/Stage, Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, New Media – Video Works, Animations…) and these works could be in preliminary, plans or completed.

A Music Portfolio and Audition Presentation includes: 1. Evidence of Theory Qualification

• AMEB Theory of Music Grade 3, AMEB Musicianship Grade 3, AMEB Music Craft Grade 2, or similar courses through Trinity College or ABRSM

2. Performance

• Perform two (2) contrasting pieces (own choice) with a total duration of 10 minutes

• Perform at a standard at least equivalent to AMEB Grade 5 (Practical) or AMEB Advancing Step 3 (CPM)

Composition

• Submit two (2) contrasting compositions recorded onto an audio CD with either live or MIDI instruments

• Submit a score of at least one (1) of these compositions

A Theatre Audition Presentation includes: 1. A prepared 2 – 3 minute self-devised, solo, dramatic performance that:

• includes dialogue and stage action/movement • may use small, personal props • is learnt/memorized • is suitable for the context of the audition and the age of the

candidate • Showcases the candidate’s acting skills and abilities

2. A copy of the script (submitted at the audition) 3. Participation in a 45 minute Impromptu Performance (no preparation required)
