Exploring the UK!

By Samuel Lopez Martin de Vidales

The frst days when I arrived in Manchester, I asked myself, what kind of tourism can I do? I didn’t know any place and had a great surprise because there a lot of beautiful places near Manchester to exploring.

My friends from academy and I decided to visit York for our frst trip. York is a historical and beautiful city. You can visit York Minster, a huge and spectacular building. before we visited York Minster we walked over the walls around the city centre, it was an amazing walk and we could enjoy fantastic views of the city. You can visit the castle or the different museums, we decided to do the last one and visited the museums. The castle museum is a visit that didn’t disappoint us. At last, we visited the railway museum, it was a curious visit where you can see the different trains in the UK history and above all, it’s free!!

Our second trip was in North Wales, this time we wanted to enjoy the nature, our frst stop was in Llandudno, we walked along the beach. The second stop was in Conwy, a small medieval city with a spectacular castle that we visited. After Conwy, we visited the Snowdonia National Park, we hiked in the mountains and enjoyed the views from the Lake. Betws Y Coed was our last stop, it is a small village near Snowdonia park where you can walk along the river, or eat traditional Wales cakes.

Last but not least, we visited Chester, another historical and charming city, we did a Roman tour and learnt about the Roman history in Chester and we visited some of the Roman ancient ruins in the city. We ate our lunch in a restaurant located in The Rows, which are buildings with a lot of shops and restaurants, with original architecture and black and white facades.

Interview

Interview with our new teacher Raquel. Why did you choose to work in the EFL industry?

Somehow, I always knew I wanted to be a teacher ever since I was a little girl. My grandfather used to be a teacher and he has always inspired me to teach. I think teaching is never boring!

What’s the best thing about your job?

The best thing about being a teacher is defnitely seeing my students learn. That moment is what makes it all worthwhile!

What were you like in school?

I got into trouble (boring, I know). I was very quiet and shy, but friendly. In fact, I had plenty of friends, most of which I’m still friends with now!

Describe your ideal Sunday morning.

Sleeping in until 10:30 am and going out for brunch around Northern Quarter! I love eating out, especially on a Sunday!

If you could describe Communicate in 3 words, what would they be?

Great atmosphere, fun and rewarding!

What do you like to do outside of work?

I enjoy going to music festivals and gigs with my friends. Music is a great part of my life. Last year I went to four music festivals in Spain and I can’t wait for the next one!

Describing a houseBy Rawan and Jorge

My tree house is in countryside near to Manchester. It has 2 foors. The frst foor has a living room, a kitchen and fve big places. On the second foor, there is one bedroom and one bathroom.

The bedroom is small and the kitchen too. But has a big garden and has a big balcony with a great view and you can see the beautiful river and a lot of trees. It’s 1 hour from train station, so it’s better to go by car.

The river is 5-minute walk from house, but the services are very far.

50-word mini sagas

A beautiful day – Tomoko Seino

A blind homeless man sat on the street, with an empty can said: “Please help me, I’m blind.”Sadly, no one paid attention.A woman passed by, looked at him, re-wrote his note.People started giving him money. The note said: “It’s a beautiful day, but I can’t see it.”

A dog!-Tie Rubim

It is a cold and grey Sunday. I got up early

as usual, it’s raining outside. I don’t feel

good and I miss my wife. She’s out of town

for one month. I will send her an email or

maybe I will call, actually I don’t know. I

can hear the wind in the trees, and I can

hear an animal cry. But I don’t have

animals!
