Sally Shipman Wentworth joined the Internet Society (ISOC) in May 2009 and iscurrently the Vice President of Global Policy Development where she leads theorganization’spublicpolicyactivities,guidingthedevelopmentofpublicpoliciesthatsupporttheglobal,openInternet.SallyalsoleadsISOC’spolicyengagementinarangeof international organizations including theUnitedNations, the InternetGovernanceForum and the International Telecommunications Union. In addition, she isinstrumental in building coalitions among developed and developing countries andInternetstakeholdersonInternetpublicpolicyissuestopromoteamulti-stakeholderapproachtoICTfordevelopment.Prior to joining the Internet Society, Sally Shipman Wentworth was the AssistantDirector forTelecommunicationsand InformationPolicy in theOfficeof ScienceandTechnologyPolicyattheWhiteHousefrom2007-2009.There,shewasresponsibleforgovernment-wide coordination and implementation of policies related to Internetgovernance; cybersecurity; telecommunications policy; digital television transition;intellectual property and patent reform; privacy; broadband deployment; spectrumauctions;andotherinformationtechnologypolicies.From1999–2007,SallywastheprincipalpolicyadvisoronInternetpolicyissuesattheU.S.DepartmentofState.SheorganizedU.S.negotiationsforseveralUnitedNationstreatyconferences,PhasesIandIIoftheUNWorldSummitontheInformationSociety(WSIS), theAsiaPacificEconomicCooperation(APEC), theOrganizationofAmericanStates (OAS), and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development(OECD). Sally joined the State Department in 1999 as a Presidential ManagementFellow.Sally holds anM.A. in International Political Economy from the Claremont GraduateUniversity (Claremont, California) and a B.A. in Political Science from WestmontCollege(SantaBarbara,California).
