District 279 is the 5th largest district in the State serving 22,000 students at 31 sites. They include:

Academic Achievement

Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCAs) scores continue to rise in math and reading with a large jump in math achievement in 2005.

Basic Standards Test (BSTs) results are also improving in Math and Reading, and are above State averages and at an all time high (Reading 87% and Math 76%).

Northwest Evaluation (NWEA) results show District 279 students in grades 3-8 have equal equal or higher average growth scoresor higher average growth scores than national averages at every grade level.

ACT results show District 279 seniors had higher average scoreshigher average scores than the nation, and equal to Minnesota State averages.

Community Survey Results – random sample telephone survey of 500 households:

-Majority of residents surveyed believe quality of schools are good to excellentgood to excellent (74%)

-70% of all those surveyed said they were proud of proud of their schoolstheir schools and would recommend them to friends
