Year 2010The Puerto Rico’s Commonwealth lay
off 27,000 employees
The CFSP was reduced to four personsto collect data from 92 fishing centers, receive, edit, and enter approximately
100,000 records yearly.

Result: In year 2012 the CFSP had a delay of year and a half in the data
entry process.At the end of this year we received
funds from NOAA Fisheries and contracted four biologists and one
statistic clerks that were able to help in the data collection and the data entry
process.

Durante los 1970During the 1970’s was reported that 70% of the total catch was caught by fish and lobster pots.
During the last four years fish and lobster traps reported just 15% of the total catch.
