For more information,
Greetings!
It’s almost time for Labor Day and Back-to-School events, which
means Westland’s All-American 2014 Blues, Brews, and BBQ is
also just around the corner. This year, the event will be held on Fri-
day, September 12 and Saturday, September 13. I’m looking forward
to seeing you and your families there!
As you consider your sponsorship opportunities and outreach for
2014, we hope that your business can take part in our City’s premier
event. This fun-filled, two day music festival attracts thousands of
residents and visitors, and we want to make this year’s Blues, Brews,
and BBQ our best yet!
I would also like to extend a big thank you to all those in the busi-
nesses community who participated in Westland’s first “Challenge
for Compassion” last month as part of the Compassionate City Ini-
tiative, as well as the Chamber’s Restaurant Rally. The local restau-
rants who participated in July’s Restaurant Rally raised funds for
Compassionate City, which has helped make it a great success so
far.
Earlier in August, we celebrated the Grand Opening of the new
Westland Farmers & Artisans Market Pavilion. For those who have
not yet stopped by the new location, it is spectacular. I encourage
everyone to come on down and see the new pavilion for yourself. It
is located at 1901 S. Carlson just south of Ford Road and the new
H20 Zone. The Market is open on Thursdays, 3- 7 pm.
With the Farmers Market Pavilion and H20 Zone projects com-
pleted, now we are looking forward to the New City Hall, Fire Sta-
tion, and road projects to be finished in the coming months. The
formerly vacant service merchandise site located on Nankin Boule-
vard will be cleared and prepared for future development. The north
end of the property will also be the site of the new Ralph Savini Fire
Station, which is slated to be open in early 2015.
This project is part of a comprehensive revitalization of our All-
American City. With over $20 million in new public projects either
completed or underway, we are putting on our hard-hats and going
to work in Westland. The City Hall and road projects, slated to be
finished this fall, are also part of this revitalization.
You can stay up-to-date on all of the good things happening in
our All-American City by visiting the newly redesigned website at
www.cityofwestland.com, liking us on Facebook and following us
on Twitter. I want you to be proud of your City, so stay informed,
get involved and do your part to help us reach our goal to make
Westland one of Michigan’s “Most Livable Cities.”
Sincerely,
Page 4 Westland Chamber of Commerce
A unique gathering of chief-
elected officials and business
leaders from across 18 West-
ern Wayne County communi-
ties will gather again this fall
for an evening of networking
and insights into the region. The second annual Western Wayne
Business Leadership Banquet will be held Thursday, Sept. 25,
at the Ford Motor Company Conference and event Center in
Dearborn. The event entails a 5 pm mixer; 6:15 pm dinner and
7 pm keynote presentation. The inaugural event last year drew
good reviews from the 350 people who attended.
“This event not only provides valuable information, it is also
serves as a catalyst for relationship building between business and
political leaders,” said Tracey Schultz-Kobylarz, Redford Town-
ship’s supervisor and chair for the Conference of Western Wayne
Board. “As a result of events like this, we are able to work together,
blend geographical lines and put our best collective proposals for-
ward for the betterment of the region.”
The Conference of Western Wayne, an advocacy organization
serving the elected leaders of the region’s 18 cities and townships,
is working with a team of local chambers of commerce to coordi-
nate this program designed to build stronger municipal-business re-
lationships in a region that represents 700,000 residents and more
than 54 percent of Wayne County’s tax base.
The Banquet emcee will be Mary Kramer, the publisher of
Crain’s Detroit Business, and the keynote speaker will be renowned
local economist David Sowerby, portfolio manager for Loomis,
Sayles and Company in Bloomfield Hills. Sowerby will speak
about economic and business trends for Western Wayne County and
metro Detroit.
“It is an example for regionalizing and showcasing our attributes,
talents and efforts for the good of State, Western Wayne County,
and of course the local communities we each serve,” Kobylarz
added.
The program is scheduled to feature the appearance of chief-
elected officials from the following municipalities: Cities of
Belleville, Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, Garden City, Inkster, Livo-
nia, Northville, Plymouth, Romulus, Wayne and Westland; Town-
ships of Canton, Huron, Northville, Plymouth, Redford, Sumpter,
and Van Buren.
Sponsorships and corporate-table packages are now on sale. For
details, contact Brookellen Swope by calling 734.326.7222, or e-

What Our Patients are Saying...
From left to right: Stuart Felhandler, DDSDaniel Rogers, DDS, Steve Cohen, DDSRicardo Seir, DDS, MS
No matter how much I brushed, I couldn’t get my teeth white enough. I triedpastes, strips, and trays, but nothing gave me the results I wanted. en I triedZoom! Whitening. After only an hour, my smile looked amazing. I couldn’t be-lieve how well Zoom! worked! My boyfriend says my new white smile makesmy face glow; my twin sister says she's jealous!
-Sarah T.
I had my teeth capped for the first time in the early 1980’s. Back then Ithought my caps looked alright, but after 10 years I began to notice that mysmile didn’t look anything like what today’s technology could produce.A coworker suggested I schedule a visit with Dr. Cohen. She was a new pa-
tient of his and guaranteed I would love him. She was right! I’ve always beena wreck at the dentist, but Dr. Cohen’s gentleness and optimism were so reas-suring that I wasn’t even afraid. My treatment included root canals, gum surgery, permanent bridges, and a
dental cleaning. I opted for the Dream Dentistry and I never felt a thing–be-fore, during, and after—what a concept! Dream Dentistry is definitely whatgot me through the long appointments and extensive procedures. It’s a great feeling to laugh and smile without trying to hide my teeth. I
used to be jealous of other people’s great smiles. Now I’ve got a great smile ofmy own!
Maureen O.
I was unhappy with my smile, but never considered Cos-metic Dentistry before. It wasn’t until I met and talked withDr. Cohen that I even realized what Cosmetic Dentistrycould do for me.I received caps and veneers and it was all very easy. I’m
definitely not self-conscious about smiling anymore and Ihave a new outlook on life.I’ve recommended Parkside Dental Team to all my friends
and family because I really trust the staff and the friendly at-titude and family atmosphere are very comforting. -Tim W.
I used to worry a lot about my dental work. My partial did-n’t fit very well and it moved around quite a bit. I was afraidit would break or even fall out while I was eating or talking.en I met Dr. Cohen. Dr. Cohen helped me overcome mydental phobia and replaced my loose partial with a perma-nently cemented bridge. Now I don’t worry about my dentalwork anymore and I’m no longer embarrassed to smile.I’m very pleased with the care I received at Parkside Dental
Team. Dr. Cohen, Dr. Seir, and the entire staff were very car-ing and attentive to my needs and concerns. At ParksideDental Team, I never felt like I was just another patient; itwas more like I was visiting family. My wife is also a new pa-tient at Parkside and we’ve recommended Parkside DentalTeam to all our friends and family. Parkside is the best!

The Westland Chamber of Com-
merce is happy to welcome All Amer-
ican Embroidery, Inc. as one of our
newest members. All American Em-
broidery (AAE) also does screen print-
ing, digital printing, promotional
items, trophies, banners, awards and of
course, embroidery!
Located in Livonia, the business
was started in 1998 by Sandeep
Narang, who saw a huge market for
promotional items and customized clothing. Starting out by solic-
iting business door-to-door and from friends, Narang managed to
build the company to where it now services professional sports
teams, the Army National Guard, Detroit Public Schools, high
schools, local sports teams, corporations and civic groups.
AAE attributes their success to great customer service, great
products and great staff. “If you have all three of those things, it
will enable you to grow and keep customers for years to come”
stated regional sales representative Domenic Policicchio III. He
also added that AAE joined the Westland Chamber because “we
felt it would be a great way to give back to Westland and the Cham-
ber. We believe we can bring great products and service to our fel-
low Chamber members”.
After joining last month, when asked if they had already realized
any benefits from being a member, Policicchio responded, “we’ve
already gotten referrals and I’ve met a lot of great people. I’m hon-
ored to be a member and a huge supporter of the Chamber. We’re
looking forward to a mutually beneficial relationship with our fu-
ture customers through the Westland Chamber of Commerce”. For more information or to place an order, contact Domenic
