4 Two hand turn partner once around, open out standing next to your partner facing anticlockwise around the room, men on the inside, women on the outside.

B1 2 Two waltz steps forward, turn on the spot (turning towards your partner) and take their other hand.

2 Two waltz steps backward (so still going in the same direction).

4 Repeat the other way: two waltz steps, turn on the spot, two waltz steps back. Then take a ballroom hold.

2 Back,2,3, beside -- (Using same hold, all take 1 waltz step back to place. Use 1 bar to finish standing side by side with partners holding inside hands).

4 Tops Advance & Retire -- (Take 2 waltz steps each way.)

2 Tops 2 slow forward -- (Take 2 slow steps towards opposite person then drop hands with partner.)

2 Ladies Forward -- (Ladies take 2 slow steps forward while men retire with 2 slow steps. During these steps you take a ballroom hold with your opposite. So at the end of this the top couples have changed partners and the men are in their original position).

4 Tops waltz to opposite place -- (Tops waltz anticlockwise inside the set to the opposite side. Finish beside new partner holding inside hands.)

4 Tops Advance and Retire -- (Take 2 waltz steps each way).

2 Tops 2 slow forward -- (Take 2 slow steps towards your original partner and drop hands with your current partner).

2 Men forward -- (Men take 2 slow steps forward while ladies retire with 2 slow steps, while retiring take your partner in a ballroom hold. At the end of this sequence top couples have their original partners and are in original position).

8 Circular waltz -- (All 4 couples circular waltz half way around the set to finish in their opposite couples position).

4 Couple 1 individually gallop outside the set to bottom place, at same time couple 5 hold hands and gallop up inside the set to top place.

4 Couple 5 (NOW IN TOP PLACE) individually gallop outside the set to bottom place, at same time couple 1 (now in bottom place) hold hands and gallop up inside the set to top place.

8 Middle 3 couples Right and Left hand star.

8 Top 2 couples and bottom 2 couples both circle Left and Right, at same time middle couple do anything they want to.

8 Top couple weaves to bottom place (crossing between 2nd couple, outside 3rd Couple, crossing between 4th Couple, outside 5th Couple to meet each other holding hands ready to dance up).

CANBERRA CENTENARY WALTZ Composed by John Carroll – Canberra August 2012 – to mark the Centenary of Canberra in 2013. Dance this one in a very leisurely way. Music: Waltz in ¾ tempo – own music “Daisy Bell” composed by Harry Dacre in 1892 (aka “Daisy, Daisy” aka “A Bicycle Built for Two”) or any similar waltz. Formation: Couples in line of dance around the room (can be progressive)

Bars (beats) Description 8-bar introduction (24) Face partner and honour. Both face LOD in high promenade hold. 1-4 (12) Chassée diagonal left and right, and repeat.

(Step left, close right, step left & close right; step right, close left, step right & close left – ie. “skaters’ step” - then repeat.)

5-8 (12) Repeat bars 1-4. 9-11 (9) Both starting left foot, take three slow steps ... 12 (3) ... then lift right foot and point and tap. 13-15 (9) Continue on right foot, repeating bars 9-11, ending on left foot. 16 (3) Release right hands but retain left hands, lady continue to face along

LOD, man turn slightly clockwise to face against LOD (ALOD), and both balance out. (Flourish with right hand if you wish.)

17 (3) Balance in (step close together), facing your partner ... 18 (3) ... and balance out at arms length again. (Flourish with right hand if
