    And Zacchaeus was at Home!

    Come Down Zacchaeus...

“When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and

said to him, Zacchaeus, come down quickly for I

must stay at your house today. So Zacchaeus

hurried down and received him joyfully.”...

Looking at him, Jesus said, salvation has come to

    this house today…” (Lk. 19, 5-6; 9)

    And Zacchaeus

    was at Home and

    home is Jesus!

  • A Christmas message from our Pastor

To our Parishioners, Friends and Benefactors:

It is my great joy to greet all of you as we welcome our Lord, “the Word made Flesh”, the real “bread of life” this Christmas. Sensitive to the presence of our

Lord as ‘Emmanuel’ through our being ‘priests, prophets and kings’ amidst our diverse traditions, may we journey closer to our mission and vision in bringing

our Faith Home. Let us go ‘small’...be nourished by ‘the Word’...be conscious of how we are ‘graced’ and become a ‘grace’ to each one… ‘be continually formed

and grow’...and ‘Welcome Home’ one another embracing each one who comes

to us with the heart of the father.

With our Blessed Mother as model of discipleship, let us long to “be faithful to the teachings of the Apostles, a common life of sharing, the breaking of the bread and prayer” (Acts 2:42) ...as we not only share bread with each other but rather

    become bread for one another.

Feast of the Holy Family! One Parish, One Family...Let our families be at home…and

our home be our families. Let us through the intercession of St. Lorenzo the Family

Man, model our families by the Holy Family—Jesus, Mary & Joseph.

This is our embrace of our three year sojourn Zacchaeus Come Down--- a call

to bring the Faith Home. Like Zacchaeus, let us Welcome Jesus Home.

I thank all our parishioners, benefactors, friends and fellow sojourners who are

always there with us. I am most grateful to our volunteers, Core Group, the staff, the many stewards and leaders of our Parish, in particular the new pastoral leaders of our Parish as we embark on a 3-year sojourn of discipleship: Come

    Down Zacchaeus.

As we remember you in our prayers this Christmas season, we thank the Lord for having brought you into our lives. We pray that amidst the ‘restlessness’ and ‘homelessness’ of the world these days, particularly of what we go through this

pandemic, the newborn Savior comes to the ‘rescue’ and bless your families with His peace throughout the New Year. With Fr. Martin, Deacon Brian & Deacon

Steve and the priests who help and serve us,... a blessed Christmas and Welcome Home…to ‘where Earth kisses Heaven’ – hopes to a very fruitful New

    Year.

Our journey with SLR began when our daughter, Camille, wanted to become an altar server. Soon after, we volunteered as Altar Server Coordinators and thereafter, our son, Lawrence, became an Altar Server as well. We seek to share more of God’s gifts & blessings to us by joining the CANA Ministry, Knights of Columbus, and as Eucharistic Ministers of the Eucharist (EME). Fr. Tony asked us to lead the 2016 Pentecost celebration, the 2019 Lenten season and later part of 2019, as Worship Lead . . . the "W" for FT's vision for the Church to go WESTY. And now we said YES to another opportunity to serve the SLR community, to be part of the CORE group. - Ronamy

Come Down Zacchaeus is a 3-yr sojourn to

‘reimagine’ the celebration of our Faith. Let us

celebrate our Faith at Home. Let us as a Family

pray together; walk with our children to learn the

    Faith together via Zoom...

“My wife Teresa and I, Francisco

    Vargas started attending Saint

Lorenzo Ruiz Church in 1996. It

was not until 2014 that we joined

    the Spanish choir. Then we

    continued to volunteer in other

    ministries to support the Spanish

community as well as our Parish

    needs. We currently serve as

    Sacristan, EMEs, Our Lady of

    Guadalupe Devotion, Mass

    Coordinator for Spanish Mass,

    Lector, Knights of Columbus and

    the CANA Ministry.”

    The Giving Tree

Once again, our dear St. Lorenzo

    Ruiz Parish Community will

have the opportunity to share its

    blessings with other brothers and

sisters less fortunate —the need of

    giving ritualized as the Giving

    Tree.

    Due to the specified guidelines

due to Covid this year, we are

    allowed to make monetary

donations through the Venmo app or Faith

Direct (Online Giving) or you may also bring

your Gift card donations to the Parish Office.

For many people the holidays are extremely difficult. Let us put together our efforts and celebrate Advent Time in a beautiful and special way by manifesting the love of God to these families.

Let us remember what St. Mother Teresa of

    Calcutta once said:

"At this Christmas when Christ comes, will He find a

warm heart? Mark the season of Advent by loving and

serving others with God’s own love and concern.”

    Please continue

    praying and caring

    for our sick family

    members, friends,

    neighbors &

    parishioners.

Dec. 27, 2020 - Holy Family Sunday May you be blessed as you continue to gather with your loved ones during this season of love, joy, and peace.

Most people see Christmas as a time for fami-lies to gather together and share gifts as sign of their love for each other. It is a particu-larly “familial” season. That is because we celebrate GOD being born into a human fam-ily and allowing us to become members of the family of GOD, through the birth, life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Je-sus. Being a family is truly joyful, but it also demands a giving of ourselves in loving ser-vice of one another.

The personal question/action for today: The personal question/action for today: How is the Lord Jesus calling me to be a diakonos – servant/minister? In what ways can I proclaim the GOoD News by my acts of assisting others? How have I given witness (martyrizo) to the GOoD news? As I continue the celebration of Christmas and spend time with family and friends, how can I proclaim the reason for the season – GOD’s Love becoming incarnate for our salvation?
