A BRIEF HISTORYIn 2003, PBCB began operating out of a pick-up truck on a Pleasant Bay public beach. In 2014, we acquired waterfront property on the Bay that includes a dock, a boathouse, four buildings, and 750 feet of beach frontage.

WHO WE AREPBCB is a nonprofit organization that provides affordable, quality sailing and boating, marine education, and environmental stewardship opportunities for all community members – regardless of financial, physical, developmental or cognitive abilities.

Our boats can be used pending availability. Members who have passed a skills test may reserve a boat for their own use, and may bring up to four guests. Schedule a one-time skills test by signing up for an Adult Lesson. Reserve a boat on your member account. Member Fees: Small Boat (Sunfish, 420, Laser) $40Large Boat (Flying Scot, Catboat) $55 Kayak $25

Youth Recreational Boating and Kayaking (Ages 12-17) Monday-Friday, 9:30am-Noon and 1:30-4pmYouth members may reserve a kayak or a sunfish for independent boating, after passing a skills test.Member Fee: $15/boat

Friday Friendly Racing and Family BBQ on Pleasant Bay Every Friday, July 5 through August 30, 5-7pmPBCB runs a series of short informal, friendly races for individuals and families on Friday evenings throughout the summer. Race participants should have some sailing experience and be comfortable and capable in a sailboat. Come practice your skills on the race course and meet new friends at a BYO cookout following the races. Come for the cookout, even if you don’t want to race! Bring your own food and drink. A grill is available for your use. Please make your reservation online. Member Fee: $15 per race participant

FOR THE COMMUNITY AND MEMBERSSailing and Boating Programs – Our fleet of Flying Scots, Sunfish, Catboats, 420s, and Kayaks offer a variety of sailing and paddling opportunities.

Youth Sailing and Boating ProgramsOur waterfront facility offers over 50 instructional classes for all age groups and ability levels. Lessons are offered for youth and adults ages six years and up. Younger children may accompany adults for parent/child sailing programs. Please refer to website for times.

Youth Sailing (Ages 6-17) Monday-Friday, 9:30am-NoonTuesday & Thursday, 1:30-4pm Youth Sailing lessons are the heart of our boating program. Lessons are designed for both beginners, who learn basic skills in Flying Scots in groups of 2-4 students with an instructor, and intermediates who will learn more advanced skills in Flying Scots, and always have an instructor in the boat with them. Students will be grouped by ability at the beginning of each class. Non-member Fee: $45/class Member Fee: $30/class

Parent-Child Sailing Lessons Monday-Thursday, 5:30-7:30pm *Note, time changes in August to 5-7pm Saturdays, 9:30am-NoonOne parent and one child sailing lesson in a Flying Scot.Non-member Fee: $80/pairMember Fee: $60/pair

Adventure Sailing (Ages 12-18) Monday & Friday 1:30-4pm For intermediate and above skill levels, this class introduces students to the wider world of sailing and produces knowledgeable all-around boaters. Taught in Flying Scots and other boats, classes teach more advanced seamanship and navigation.Non-Member fee: $45/class Member fee: $30/classDiscovery Science and Sailing (Ages 8-14) July 12 through August 30, Fridays 9am-4pmDiscover the exciting and surprising connections between sailing and marine science. Start the morning in the boathouse, on the beach or in rowboats, and end the day on the water sailing with U.S. Sailing trained instructors. Non-member fee: $90Member fee: $75420 Sailing (Ages 12-18 )Tuesdays & Thursdays 1:30-4pmThis class uses the double-handed high-performance and versatile 420 sailboat to teach advanced sailing and racing techniques. MARINE EDUCATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIPThe preservation of Pleasant Bay’s amazing natural habitats and spectacular beauty requires more engaged stewards. PBCB uses sailing to teach STEM principles and offers additional marine education and environmental stewardship programs. Our programs foster an appreciation for nature and respect for our environment, inspiring stewardship of the Bay.

Adult Programs 2019 Friday Speaker Series at Hillside Center April through December, 4:30-6pmOur 2nd Annual Friday Speaker Series brings relevant research presentations related to ocean sciences from Cape Cod professionals. Enjoy a casual afternoon with front-seat access to speakers as they explain local climate change impacts, kelp aquaculture, green energy, local marine ecosystems, whale protection efforts, deep sea exploration with WHOI and more. Sailing for Veterans Wednesdays in July, 5:30-7:30pm Wednesdays in August, 5-7pm Sailing for Veterans: it’s technical, requires teamwork, and invigorates! Join a group of veterans of wars from Vietnam to Afghanistan who sail together on Pleasant Bay. Classes help students gain mastery of wind and water while building teamwork and comradery. Students must be ambulatory. Free of charge.

Cape Abilities SailingWednesdays in July & August, 1:30-4pm Offered to students with cognitive disabilities. These young people will participate in sailing instruction and activities and may compete in regional Special Olympics regattas. Free of charge.
