The Present

Night

We see a dark and mysterious dirty alley with trash scattered

throughout, a man awakens alone. The name on his letterman

jacket reads ROGER MARKS. The wind is blowing wildly and steam

from a nearby manhole is all around. He looks around with a

bewildered look on his face and appears to be unaware how he got

there. There is a shriek nearby and Roger heads toward where he

thinks the noise is coming from.

We see Roger turn the corner to find a group of HIGH SCHOOLERS

mugging an OLD MAN. Roger yells “Hey Stop” grabbing the high

schoolers attention. They stop the beating, glare at Roger, and

continue with what they were doing. With an angry look on his

face, Roger intervenes. He takes a piece of plywood lying next

to a dumpster and walks towards the group.

Roger tells them to stop, but as he approaches the group, one of

the members who appears to be burly and strong comes toward him,

clearly holding a knife. The high schooler lunges at Roger

trying to stab him, but Rodger dodges and hits the knife out of

his hand with the ply wood. Roger swings again, hitting the high

schooler in the head and breaking the ply wood.

With a stunned look upon their face, the high schoolers quickly

stop what they’re doing, clearly seeing their friend is knocked

out cold. They pick him up quickly and run out of the alley.

“yea you better run bitches” yells Rodger as he quickly runs

over to help the bleeding old man.

Getting the old man to his feet, he could tell the old man would

not be able to walk without help. Roger puts the old man’s arm

over his shoulder and proceeds to walk out of the alley. While

walking towards the end of the alley, Roger talks to the old man

about how he got there. Asking where the hospital is we see

Roger turn around to find the old man gone.

We hear a LITTLE KID crying and Roger runs over near a dumpster

and we see a little kid sitting crying. Rogers asks if he is

alright and he says he lost his mom. Roger proceeds to take the

boy to his house where his step father awaits. We see the step

father is abusive and Roger tries to defend the boy. Roger gets

a door shut in his face and is left with no direction to the

hospital.

Roger wanders for a minute aimlessly and runs into TRACY. Roger

tells her the whole story about the old man and the boy and she

confirms how weird of a series of events that is. Tracy proceeds

to help Roger find the hospital and in leaving him she gives him

her number which Roger places in his pocket. While Roger walks

into the hospital we see a giant flash of light.

We see Roger wake up in a hospital bed, the light from the

overhead lamp blinding him slightly. He sees a NURSE and she

explain to him that he had been in a coma for 6 months from a

football injury. Roger goes on to tell her that he doesn’t

remember any of it and he has no idea where he is.

The nurse exits the room to leave Roger alone with another BOY

PATIENT and their visitor. Roger asks the boy if anyone had

visited him and the girl, who introduces herself as the patients

sister tells him that his mother and father have visited before.

Roger asks if they’ve met before, but they say this is the first

time they’ve seen him. We know that the girl and the boy are the

same people from the street, but Roger still has no idea where

or how he knows them.

The door bursts open to ROGER’S MOTHER crying hysterically

grabbing Roger and hugging him. Next comes his father who

exclaims “thank God my boy is awake!” The nurse tells Roger the

DOCTOR is coming in to check on him.

A doctor walks into the room but we are unable to see his face

clearly. We can tell by Roger’s reaction that this figure looks

familiar to him. The doctor asks Roger how he is feeling. Only

after hearing the doctor talk, we realize that it is in face the

old man from the alleyway. We hear Roger whisper it was only a

dream.

Old Man Costume

The Old Man will wear a sweater vest with dress pants, a walking cane and dress shoes

He will wear a letterman jacket with jean pants and tennis-shoes

3 Greg goes to slap the Little Kid across the face and Roger blocks him and punches him in the face.

POV is switched from roger to Greg right before the punch

3 Greg slams the door on Rogers face
