n Winter Walk on Warren Street PERFORM COLUMBIAPerforming Arts Collective of Columbia CountyHoliday revelers ride in carriages,
drawn by teams of horses, up and down Warren Street, Hudson’s main thoroughfare. Carolers dressed in Victorian costumes sing songs of the season. Musical ensembles and dancers perform in the many shops that fill the street. It’s a scene evocative of days gone by. The Hudson Opera House pres-ents Winter Walk on Warren Street. This free event on the first Saturday of Dec., 5pm-8pm is a holiday tradition. Contact Hudson Opera House at 822-1438 or visit www.hudsonoperahouse.org

Harvest SpiritsThe first distillery in New York to be able to offer tastings and retail sale directly out
of the distillery, Harvest Spirits has converted one of the massive cold storage rooms at
Golden Harvest Farms into the region’s newest micro-distillery. Harvest Spirits makes
alcohol from nature’s most perfect fruit: the apple, with apples grown on-site. Apples
are grown, where they are pressed, fermented, distilled and bottled at the same loca-
tion. Come see how this incredible tasting vodka is made.

Postcard Perfect! TACONIC STATE PARK & HILLSDALE 30-Minute Tour
Start by taking the Taconic State Parkway to the Route 23 exit. Head east toward Hillsdale, about three-and-a-half miles on Route 23 until you see a “National Beauty Award Highway 1969”sign and make a right on to County Route 11A, which will soon become County Route 11. At County Route 27, turn left and continue until you reach County Route 7. Make a right on to Route 7 and drive about a mile to County Route 7A, then turn left and continue into Copake. Bear left at the village circle and stay on Route 7A until you reach Route 22.* A left on to Route 22 will take you to Route 23 in Hillsdale, and another left on to Route 23 will point you west back toward the Parkway.
*If you’re looking for a nice picnic area and/or campgrounds, turn right off Route 22 on to Route 344 and enter the Taconic State Park. For a scenic stroll, follow signs leading to parking for Bash Bish Falls. The mile-long hike to the towering falls runs along a trail bordering Bash Bish Brook.
Panoramic Delights! KINDERHOOK AND CHATHAM
President Van Buren’s home, Art Omi and ChathamFollow Route 9 south to Route 9H south to the Martin Van Buren National Historic Site, the retirement home of the eighth President of the United States. After your tour continue south on Route 9H to the intersection of County Route 22 and West Ghent – Stockport Rd. Turn left onto County Route 22 and follow to “The Fields” Sculpture Park at Art Omi on Letter S Road. After enjoying your self-guided walking tour of the park continue on County Route 22 and turn left onto County Route 21 and straight on County Route 21B to Route 203. Turn right onto Route 203 and continue into the Village of Chatham. Follow Route 66 north to Main Street were you will find a wide variety of shops and eateries for a leisurely stop. To return to Route 9 follow Route 203 back into the Village of Valatie and turn right/left onto Route 9 and follow north to I-90 and Albany or south to Hudson.
Imagining History. HUDSON, OLANA, CLERMONT
This driving or biking journey on Rte 9G is highlighted by orchards, horse farms and fantastic vistas of the Catskill Mountains.
Hudson is known for its unique and varied architecture and antique dealers. The “Main Street USA” ambiance of this city harkens a simpler time and way of life. (Note: In Hudson, Route 9G connects with 3rd Street.) Farther south, you’ll encounter the crown jewel of the Hudson Valley: Frederic Church’s Olana. With the look of a Persian palace, this magnificent mansion overflows with Victorian elegance, fabulous furnishings, and breathtaking paintings by the most famous landscapist of the Hudson River School.
Olana is situated four miles south of Hudson atop a huge hill affording some of the Hudson River Valley’s most spectacular scenery. Treat yourself to a guided tour of the villa, or a leisurely picnic, or a stroll down Olana’s lovely trails, yielding unforgettable views up and down the Hudson Valley.
Drink in the elegance of a golden age and the history of a courageous few. At the Clermont State Historic Site (off Route 9G in Clermont), you’ll tour the grand 500-acre Hudson River estate, former home to seven generations of the distinguished Livingston family—including its patriarch, Robert Livingston. Take in the stately beauty of family heirlooms...and admire the formal gardens and the lush views of the Hudson as you enjoy a picnic on the grounds along the river.
