1 Introduction

This guide describes practical information for using ColorNavigator Network correctly.

The procedure described in this guide assumes that you are using NetAgent as client software.

However, the contents are also applicable for a user who are using ColorNavigator 7/NX as client

software.

NetAgent is software running in the background and does not have a graphical user interface (GUI).

NetAgent has the following features:

⚫ Connect to the ColorNavigator Network server and send monitor information.

⚫ Receive a remote command from the server and execute it.

⚫ Watch the color mode currently used on a monitor and apply an appropriate ICC profile to the

operating system.

➢ When NetAgent works on Linux, it creates ICC profiles but does not apply them to the operating

system. The CX/CS monitor does not have a SelfCalibration sensor, so quality control using remote calibration is not available. If you set targets for the calibration modes by sending monitor configuration command from the server, you must adjust the CX/CS monitor using ColorNavigator 7 and an external measurement device at the monitor's location. The ColorNavigator Network does not support the following monitors.

*2) CS2410 is excluded.

2 Installing and Updating NetAgent

In order to run the installer, place the following files in the folder where NetAgent installer exists.

Connection file Connection.xml Download the file from ColorNavigator Network.

The file is used for associating NetAgent with a

group on ColorNavigator Network.

Proxy setting file Proxy.xml The file is bundled with NetAgent installer.

If your computer uses a proxy to connect to the

Internet, open Proxy.xml with text editor and add

the proxy address and port.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<Proxy Version="1">

<Host>proxy.example.com</Host>

<Port>8080</Port>

</Proxy>

If you install NetAgent with address and port

empty, NetAgent tries to connect to the server

without using a proxy.

After installation, a monitor connected to computer appears on the list. If it does not appear on the list,

see "6.3 Monitor does not appear on the list after NetAgent has been installed".

If you want to update NetAgent, place the same Proxy.xml used for installation in the folder where

NetAgent installer exists and execute override installation. If an alert saying Connection.xml is not found

in the folder appears, ignore it and proceed to finish the installation.

After the update has succeeded, the "Software" field on the "Monitor Information" tab is updated.

Monitor configuration consists of color mode, SelfCalibration, and key lock settings.

*Available parameters depend on monitor model.

Example: CG247X Monitor Configuration

Color mode SelfCalibration Key lock

1. After a command has succeeded, the calibration modes of a CG monitor are adjusted. For CX/CS

series, however, the calibration modes are not adjusted because the CX/CS monitor does not

support SelfCalibration. For further details about dealing with a CX/CS monitor, please also refer to

the section "6.2 Calibration-type modes of CX/CS monitor are not adjusted after monitor

configuration ".

Here are the recommend settings:

Recommended Monitor Configuration

Settings Contents

Color mode Enable at least one calibration mode in order for ColorNavigator Network to show

adjustment status on the list, because the adjustment status is not displayed when

only standard modes are enabled.

SelfCalibration "Frequency": Specify a timing when end-users are least likely to use their monitors,

ex. Monthly Sunday night.

"Do not execute SelfCalibration while the monitor is in user": Off

"Standard Mode calibration": On

(Remarks)

"Frequency": When "Usage Time" is selected, SelfCalibration dates vary due to

differences in monitor usage situations. Furthermore, SelfCalibration may start

while an end-user is using the monitor.

"Do not execute SelfCalibration while the monitor is in user": When "On" is

selected, SelfCalibration does not start unless the monitor turns into power saving

mode or turns off. If your computer is always powered on, SelfCalibration may not

start because the monitor does not have a chance to turn into power saving mode.

When you send a monitor configuration, you need to specify when to start initial SelfCalibration in the "SelfCalibration start time".

Start Time of Initial SelfCalibration

Timing Description

PowerSave SelfCalibration starts only when the monitor turns into power saving mode or

an end-user press the power button on the monitor to turn off.

Immediate SelfCalibration starts immediately when remote command issued, even if the

monitor is being used.

Specified Date When the specified date comes, SelfCalibration starts even if the monitor is

being used.

When an end-user cancels running SelfCalibration by pressing buttons on the monitor, SelfCalibration

resumes with the "PowerSave" timing.

5 Tips on Management

5.1 How to look up computers disconnected for a long time

Problem

The Computer detection date is August, which is older than those of other computers.

You can see that NetAgent has not connected to the server for a long time.

Cause

⚫ Because the computer is always powered on, the monitor does not have a chance to turn into

power saving mode or turn off.

Click the "Monitor information" tab to display the SelfCalibration settings of the monitor.

When the "Do not execute SelfCalibration while the monitor is in use" is on, SelfCalibration does not

start unless the monitor turns into power saving mode or turns off.

Send a monitor configuration in which the "Do not execute SelfCalibration while the monitor is in use" is

off. SelfCalibration starts regardless of the current monitor status.

Recommended SelfCalibration settings are below. About the details, see "Recommended Monitor

Configuration (Page 6)".

Cause 2

⚫ The monitor configuration in which all the color modes are standard-type has been sent.

Click the "Color mode" tab to display the color modes of the monitor.

All of the enabled color modes are standard-type. The "Time since adjustment", "Adjustment date",

"SelfCalibration date", and "SelfCalibration result" columns display the status of calibration-type

modes, but do not display the status of standard-type modes.

To manage adjustment status on the list, send a monitor configuration in which at least one calibration-

type mode is enabled.

Even if you usually use standard-type modes, consider sending a monitor configuration which includes a

calibration-type mode. When the "Standard Mode calibration" is on in the SelfCalibration settings,

SelfCalibration for standard-type mode starts at the same time as SelfCalibration for calibration-type

mode, so you can effectively manage the adjustment status of standard-type modes on the list.

6.2 Calibration-type modes of CX/CS monitor are not adjusted after monitor

configuration has succeeded

Problem

The monitor configuration command to a CX/CS monitor has succeeded, but the calibration-type

modes are not adjusted.

Cause

⚫ The calibration-type modes have not been adjusted yet by using ColorNavigator 7/NX after the

monitor configuration command succeeded.

Because the CX/CS monitor does not support SelfCalibration, the calibration-type modes are not

adjusted during the process of monitor configuration command. You need to adjust the calibration-type

modes by using ColorNavigator 7/NX with your measurement device after the monitor configuration

command has completed.

Open ColorNavigator 7/NX, and you can see that the calibration targets you sent are assigned to the

calibration-type modes. Adjust the modes with your measurement device.

When you adjust calibration-type modes using ColorNavigator 7/NX, there are two possible operations.

(1) Use ColorNavigator 7/NX as client software instead of NetAgent.

ColorNavigator 7/NX works as client software of ColorNavigator Network like NetAgent. When you need

to adjust a monitor, open ColorNavigator 7/NX and adjust it.

(2) Use NetAgent as client software. When adjusting a monitor, connect the monitor to a laptop on

which ColorNavigator is installed.

Your monitor is usually connected to a computer on which NetAgent is installed. Only when you need to

adjust the monitor, connect it to a laptop on which ColorNavigator 7/NX is installed and adjust it. When

you reconnect the monitor to the NetAgent-installed computer, NetAgent sends the adjustment results to

the server.

6.3 Monitor does not appear on the list after NetAgent has been installed

Cause 1

⚫ The monitor is not connected to computer with USB cable.

⚫ The monitor is in power saving mode or turned off.

➢ NetAgent can communicate with a monitor while the monitor is turned on and image is being

displayed on the monitor.

Check the current monitor situation.

If the problem persists, obtain NetAgent log file (cn_netagent.log) from the following folder and open it

with text editor.

Linux /var/opt/EIZO/ColorNavigator NetAgent/log

Windows %ProgramData%\EIZO\ColorNavigator NetAgent\log

Mac /Library/Application Support/EIZO/ColorNavigator NetAgent/log

For ColorNavigator 7, the log file (NetAgentLog.log) is in the following folder.

Linux /var/opt/EIZO/ColorNavigator 7/NetAgent/

Windows %ProgramData%\EIZO\ColorNavigator 7\NetAgent

Mac /Library/Application Support/EIZO/ColorNavigator 7/NetAgent/

When installation has succeeded and the monitors appear on the list, the followings logs are generated.
