Classifying colors

• Two main types

• Primary Colors:– Red, Blue, Yellow

• Secondary Colors:– Orange, Green, Purple

Color Mixing

• Mix two primary colors and get a secondary color

• Examples– Red+Blue= Purple– Red+Yellow= Orange– Blue+Yellow= Green

Colors of Light

• Primary Colors of Light:– Red, Blue, Green

• Secondary Colors of Light:– Cyan, Magenta (Purple), Yellow

• Examples:– Red+Blue= Magenta (Purple)– Red+Green= Yellow– Blue+Green= Cyan

Directions• Get into groups of 3 or 4• Each group will be

presented with 3 jars of red, blue and yellow colored water

• Using test tubes you are going to mix two primary colors to get a secondary color.

• You ca drop X amount of drops into the test tubes to get one of the secondary colors

• Record the amount of drops it took of each primary color to get the secondary color on the data sheet.

• We are going to switch data sheets and try out their experiment.
