Sunday, May 1st, several of our students volunteered to help with Taking It To the Streets Ministry. They helped with preparing
the blessing bags which are sack lunches prepared every week. Not only did these students prepare lunches, but they also went
out with Aline and Homer to deliver these lunches to the friends of the ministry. During the visit, students were given advice or a
spoken blessing from the recipients. Most of the words shared were “stay in school,” “always trust in God,” and “thank you.”
Listening to the students’ discussions on the way home, I was excited to hear about the impact it made on them. I know that they
were blessed more than they imagined.

JOY SENIOR ADULT SCHEDULE . . . All senior adults
are invited to mark their calendars with the following schedule of
activities for this month. Plan to attend and enjoy each event with
your friends!
Thursday, May 26. This is our monthly “drive up & meet for lunch” event for
May. We will meet at Schlotzsky’s Deli, 4758 Poplar. We will plan to meet there
and have lunch about 11:15 a.m.
Looking Ahead . . . . Please make note of these items for our June Joy Group:
1. Our regular Joy Program Luncheon will not be held in June because of VBS.
2. Our Joy Outing - June 16. We will be going to St. Jude Hospital for a guided
tour. Our friend Elizabeth Colhoun who is on the staff of St. Jude is assisting us with
our plans & will accompany us. St. Jude's security policy requires the names of those
participating three weeks in advance. This means that we must have our names by
May 26. If you have questions or wish to make your reservation, please call Joe at
489-3899. We will have lunch at The Little Tea Room, one of our favorite places.
Make your plans to be present for each event!
Don't Forget!!!! Sunday, May 29th, is the fifth Sunday in May. The Colonial Park
Rangers and the pre-school kids will be singing in the 11:00 a.m. worship
service. Then the kids will stay in the service with their parents
and join in a potluck luncheon after church. It will be a great day.

fun filled night where memories and laughs will carry you for a long time. Play
your favorite board games while enjoying some homemade treats.
Tuesdays-Basketball
Start your day off right with a little basketball. Men of all ages meet at 6:00
a.m. for a little pickup basketball and thought for the day. Use the shower and
head straight to work after getting a great workout in with fellow players.
Soccer Camp – June 20 to 24
This is a great soccer camp that will teach the fundamentals and have fun at
the same time. The camp is $125 and will be led by Coach Ricky Green and
Brian Maness. We will play a lot of small sided games and work on skills of the
game. The camp will be from 9:00 to 12:00 each day. Each camper will re-
ceive a snack each day and a camp shirt.
We WANT you to know…
Takin’ It To The Streets Ministry leaves the church each 2nd and 4th Sunday of the
month FOLLOWING the 11:00 am Worship Service so these worshippers, our
Pastor and Staff have an opportunity to Make Disciples of Jesus Christ by seeking
God’s Will, Sharing God’s Love, Serving God and our Neighbors in this way. A
hot meal is served on these Sundays to the Homeless and Hungry in coordination
with a neighboring church as well as nonperishable food is distributed which the
individuals may consume later that day or during the coming week. Won’t you
join us?? You will quickly come to realize that the ones being Blessed by this
ministry may not be the ones you think...Where have You seen God lately??

Our communion offering in May will go to support the Golden Cross
Ministry. The Golden Cross Senior Residents Fund is a Christian minis-
try that uses individual donations to provide for the physical, spiritual,
and emotional needs of low income independent living and assisted
living communities of Wesley Living Communities throughout West
Tennessee, Western Kentucky, and Eastern Arkansas. 100% of your
gifts to the Golden Cross Senior Residents Fund go toward direct assis-
tance for rent, food, and medical emergencies, plus programs and activ-
ities that promote a healthy and well-balanced life. There is also a black
bin at the end of the children’s hallway where you may donate items for
the Golden Cross at any time. The primary needs are for toilet paper,
paper towels, laundry detergent and soap, but they also accept dona-
tions of Reynolds Wrap, cleaning supplies, stamps, toothbrushes, tooth-
paste, combs, brushes, lotion, deodorant and bath powder. Your gen-
