‘FOREST’

Bridge over sand pit

Large sand pit (level lowered to better contain sand)

Timber deck to sand pit edge helps prevent sand on footpaths and in classrooms

Water hand pump on top of mound (fed by nearby tank), feeding water through channels to a gravel ‘pond’

‘Forest’ planting, with paths between trees

Linear sand pit ‘river’, with stepping stone crossing.

Existing timber climbing frame to be retained

Timber platform creating elevated spaces along the fence & enclosed play spaces and storage underneath

Dense tall planting (eg bamboo) creates enclosure for elevated platform

Climbing structure, including elevated platforms, rope climbing nets, and natural timber.

Realigned fence provides additional area to the junior play space

Terraced sand pit

Platform created by placing deck on top of existing ‘fi re pit’ structure

Continuation of the pergola structure with climbing plants creates a green gateway to the play space.

Large swinging gate allows degrees of access to the junior play space and new climbing structure.

Bridge over sand pit

Timber platform along boundary wall, including semi-enclosed play spaces and storage under, and climbing elements.

Existing timber climbing frame

Sand pit ‘river’ with stepping stones.

Level of sandpit lowered. The step down into sand pit helps to contain the spread of sand.

Sloped lawn

The top of the fi re services cabinet becomes an elevated platform topped with a sculptural shade/play feature.

Boulders placed to form a rock climbing ‘scramble wall’.

Timber top to existing ‘fi re pit’ creates additional seating or a performance stage.

‘Water play mound’:Mound formed using material removed to lower sand pit heights. Water play to be fed from existing rainwater tank nearby.

A challenging climbing structure is proposed, replacing a structure that formerly existed in the same location. There is an oppportuity to supplement the natural timber climbing opportunities with rope nets, ladders and other climbing elements.
