March 10, 2019 1st Sunday in Lent
ASSEMBLE IN GOD’S NAME
Morning Reflection This is a season to reflect, renew and restore our relationships with you and with our neighbors. Help us to walk this road
with you O God, with grace and courage. Amen
Prelude Welcome and Announcements
We welcome you in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ! Please sign the guest book in the narthex so we can send you a welcome packet or fill out a yellow welcome card located in the pews. The card can be placed in the offering place.
Gathering of Prayer Concerns and Joys
Please raise your hand to share your joys or concerns to be included in the prayers of the people this day. You may also write your concern on the pink sheets and hand to the Pastor. Please mail a prayer card from the narthex to your loved one.
Centering Music (Please stand for items marked with an asterisk. GTG is the purple “Glory to God” hymnal. STF is the “Sing the Faith” smaller blue hymnal)
Responsive Call to Worship - Leader: Our Lord set his face steadfastly toward the place of his
death and triumph. People: In these days of Lent, let us be steadfast. Leader: Let us worship in the power of the Holy Spirit, which
makes us strong. Let us pray; ALL: God, come to us as we come to you. Receive our wor-
ship as the offering of our contrite but thankful, hearts. Instruct us through your Word, and strengthen us at your table, as we seek to know and do your will. Keep us strong when we are tempted to deny your Son. We pray in the name of him who triumphed in the wilder-ness: Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
*Hymn - “Lord, Who Throughout These 40 Days” GTG #166 tune - Olivet Prayer of Confession
Faithful God, we confess to you our failures in faith. We believe now help our unbelief. We have not always been firm in our conviction that you are a living Lord; we have not let you rule over us and overrule our selfishness. We have not trusted you as we should, we find it simpler to trust our possessions and earthly security. Forgive our faltering faith; we ask in the name of the One who trusted you to uttermost: Christ our Lord. Amen.
*Words of Assurance
Leader: With God on our side, who can be against us? People: He who did not spare his own Son will forgive us. Leader: Do you believe that we are forgiven? People: We do, because Christ died for us, Christ rose for us,
Christ prays for us.
*Congregational Response “My Faith Looks Up to Thee” GTG #829 My faith looks up to thee, thou Lamb of Calvary, Savior divine! Now hear me while I pray; take all my guilt away, O let me from this day be wholly thine! *Sharing of the Peace Leader: The peace of Christ be with you. People: And also with you.

RESPONSE TO THE WORD
Affirmation of Faith - Apostles’ Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was con-ceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered un-der Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descend-ed into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He as-cended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Fa-ther Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
Offering “Give to God what is right, not what is left.”

Amen. Prayer of Dedication
