his woman needs no introduction; she frequently introduces guest speakers at our meetings and is involved in several committees in our club. Pour yourself a favorite drink and read on to learn a little more about Judy LeUnes.

Judy has been a member of our community for 43 years. She and her husband, Arnold, a professor of psychology at TAMU, have two beautiful children, Katie Cryer (34) and Lyndon LeUnes (26). They are also blessed with two “perfect” granddaughters: Ashlyn Grace, 31/2, and Kendall, 2. Nana Judy will proudly tell you that her grandbabies are headed for a career in politics as the future governor and lieutenant governor of the State of Texas. Judy has been in public education for the past 40 years and frequently bumps into previous students. From what I observed at the “All Things Chocolat’” event, Judy knows all of her past students and easily recalls little anecdotes. She is currently trying to retire from "school business" but continues to speak at engagements and organizations about leadership and team building. Of course “retirement” is not a word in Judy’s vocabulary. She volunteers, fundraises, and organizes events for the non-profits that she is involved in, including, College Station Noon Lions Club, Safe Harbour, Project Unity, Pride Community Center Board, Health for All

Board, Aggieland Humane Society, Bryan/College Chamber of Commerce, among others.

lthough she is busy volunteering, she makes time for what’s important – family, and she also enjoys Aggie sports and helping unwanted and homeless animals find "forever" homes.

When asked what attracted her to Lionism, Judy said, “John Rauser and the group of Lions who helped me start Wiener Fest. They partnered up with the Buda Lions Club to borrow Buda's wiener dog racing boxes for us to use our first year.” Judy is just wrapping up the inaugural “Bra Art” fundraising event to raise money for Health for All and is joining the CSNL club effort to raise funds to build the Fun For All Playground. She was chair of the College Station Parks Board when Central Park was developed, Lick Creek Park, Lincoln Center and many of the neighborhood parks. Judy feels like she is coming back full circle to be able to help bring a new park to our

community for people with disabilities. Judy is a force for good and a real asset to our club. If you haven’t met her, please look for her at our next meeting and say hello. It’ll be just like reuniting with an old friend.

SNL Featured in Major Lion Magazine Article

By Noon Times Editor Lion David Jones It is rare to have your club mentioned in Lions International’s flagship periodical. Not only did College Station Noon Lions get mentioned, we did so in a big way. A major article on page 28 of the April 2015 issue of Lion spells out how our club is cooperating with the Rotarians and Kiwanians to raise funds for the Fun-for-All Playground. Several club members are mentioned, but Lion David

Gerling, co-chair of the steering committee, is most prominent. Lion magazine editors asked us to provide photos depicting Lions and Rotarians working together. Lion Michael Kellett did a photo shoot with them at Central Park. The result was a very large photo spanning more than one page of the magazine.
