Other Degree Options
A major in mathematics and education will increase understanding of elementary mathematics, of how elementary students make sense of mathematics, of the mathematics standards required in elementary school, and of ways to support student's learning in mathematics. It will increase your perspective on how mathematics grows beyond the K-8 level and on the role of mathematics in the world today. Teaching math to children allows you to make a different in the lives of your people by empowering them to understand the world mathematically, use quantitative reasoning to make decisions in their lives, and expand opportunities to choose interesting careers.
