FY15 Accomplishments and Productivity

Enrollment• 10 students short of our explicit goal, 60 shy of our

preferred number.• Declining demand for arts educators continues to

present difficulties.• Strong increase in Arts Technology (34% increase) and

in graduate students.• Challenges with the LEAP forward initiative have

interfered with our ability to track interest and follow through with individual contact.

Enrollment• Student achievement continues to be high with

average composite ACT at 24.9, a point above university average.

• Graphic design has doubled the number of majors accepted.

• Enhanced recruitment activities have been implemented across the college, including auditions and portfolio reviews in remote locations, and open houses involving almost every faculty member.

research, scholarship, creative activity and seeking external funds.

• Rate of external grant submissions continues to rise, with over $6.7M in proposals and $140,000 funding since July 1.

awards from such as Elizabeth Firestone Graham, the Multi-Arts Production Fund, the Aaron Copland Fund for Music, the Mattina R. Proctor, the Coleman Foundation, and the Illinois Prairie Community Foundations, plus Harmon Arts Grants, McLean County Arts Council, Illinois Arts Council.

School of Art.• Extensive revisions to Art History curriculum now in

College Curriculum Committee.• Arts Technology curriculum revised to reflect current

practice, and address NASAD recommendations.• School of Theatre and Dance task force to consider

common core for graduate programs.

Normal is a great success. Already seeing a 20% increase in attendance over last year. Excellent partnerships with Illinois Symphony, WGLT, Marriott, Hyatt, Home Sweet Home Ministries, and many others.

Continue strong community presence, expanding civic engagement opportunities• School of Music and School of Theatre and Dance

will have presented over 400 performances by the end of the fiscal year.

• Illinois Shakespeare Festival enters its 38th season this year, served over 12,000 patrons, provided expanded educational opportunities, and added successful new programs like ShakesFEAR at Halloween.

Expand opportunities for international study• Lea Cline (Art) and Kathryn Jasper (History) led a study

abroad program to Orvieto, Italy last summer and will do so again this summer.

• Developing faculty-led programs in Ghana, London, and the Czech Republic for 2016

• Art education faculty and students will return this summer for study abroad at Australian Catholic University in Sydney to examin the “Frames” curriculum model.

FY15 Accomplishments and Productivity

Continue fundraising for new facilities• For calendar year 2014, the College of Fine

Arts raised $311,588.83 plus an additional 24,437.76 through telefund and $14,453 from matching gifts. Shakespeare Society raised $82,044.14 and Friends of the Arts raised $19,392.66. A total of 1,045 individuals contributed to the college.

• An Illinois Arts Council grant will support educational activities of the Illinois Shakespeare Festival this summer.

• An Elizabeth Firestone Graham Foundation grant will support the publication from our opening exhibit in University Galleries – a Walter Robinson Retrospective.
