Career Services surveyed Penn undergraduates to gather information about their experiences over the summer.  Student responses were collected using an online survey during the Fall of 2010.

A total of 938 College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) students participated in the survey, which is a 13% increase from last year’s response rate.  Out of the estimated 1,600 CAS students in the Class of 2011, 511 seniors (32%) responded to the survey, which is a 45% increase from last year’s response rate. Of those, 62% were employed in full‐time paid positions.

• Primary Summer Experiences of CAS (rising) sophomores, juniors and seniors: Compared to last summer’s statistics, more students found paid employment this summer and fewer pursued unpaid internships.

the summer.  Of 83 international students who responded to the survey, 48 worked in the U.S. over the summer and 35 worked abroad.  In sum, a total of 100 students worked abroad last summer, which represent 13% of the survey respondents who worked (paid and unpaid).
