Lynwood Unified School District
The mission of the Lynwood Unified School
District is to prepare every student for success in college and career as a responsible citizen in a global society by guaranteeing equity and access to meaningful learning activities relevant to the 21st Century.
Mission
• Annually, every student will improve one performance
band on the California State Test (CST) in English language arts and mathematics.
• Annually, every student will participate in setting and
achieving personal educational and career goals.
• All students will understand and consistently demonstrate the core values and positive behaviors necessary to become responsible citizens.
Objectives
• We will provide the professional development and support
necessary to ensure all staff set high expectations, use effective instruction and assessment data to improve student achievement.
• In collaboration with family and community we will identify, model, reinforce and recognize the core values that students will be expected to demonstrate as well as develop and implement a consistent discipline and attendance policy throughout our schools.
• We will improve communication among Board of Education, staff, families, and the community in order to unite our stakeholders as partners in achieving our mission and objectives.
Objectives
• We will provide equal access to meaningful learning activities
in order to eliminate tracking and provide uniformity and balance within all schools and give all students access to the A-G curriculum.
• We will develop and implement a system which assists students setting and achieving personal college and career goals.

What does the data mean?

Achieving Greatness Initiative
Curriculum and program delivery adjustment• Lynwood’s students and teachers are strong, but the
current program is creating inconsistencies. • Curriculum and program delivery need to be adjusted
to include data-driven instruction, common assessments, increased rigor, and differentiated support.
• Expectations for students (performance measures, outcomes, ambitions) need to be equally high for all students.
• Need additional professional support for teachers.• Need to engage and empower parents in setting
expectations.

Differentiated Instruction
Achieving Greatness Initiative
LUSD’s instructional program must recognize students' varying background knowledge, readiness, language, preferences in learning and interests, and react responsively. The intent of differentiating instruction is to maximize each student's growth and individual success by meeting each student where he or she is and assisting in the learning process.
