Please join us for a truly UNIQUE Experience

There is no doubt that the future lies in the hands of the youth of today. Regarding future career-readiness, there seems to be a disconnect between employers and educators. There has been a recent push for forming and growing local community partnerships with area schools so that em-ployers can actively help create an environment that will prepare students for the real world and equip them with the most needed job skills.

The FIPR Institute’s unique Collaborative Career Workshop, held through the weekend of Satur-day, June 27 and Sunday, June 28, 2015, will allow teachers, community leaders and local busi-ness representatives to meet, travel together and explore several important career fields here in Florida in a truly shared experience. Together we can create the best plan for today’s students by combining the perspectives of educators, community leaders and employers!

As a basis for the weekend’s collaborative discussions, we will explore two of Florida’s top economic fields: mining/agriculture and tourism. To understand the role of agriculture in Florida careers, we will visit a phosphate mine and talk to professionals in various phosphate-industry jobs required to produce a much-needed agricultural product. We will also explore Florida’s tourism industry by attending a panel discussion at Walt Disney World in Orlando. Another unique experience of the weekend will be traveling to Florida’s first Polytechnic University. At Florida Polytechnic University, work-shop participants will learn about the university, degree programs offered and interact with current students.

Hands-on activities will be part of this workshop as well as a round-table discussion between educators, community leaders and “leaders of industry”.
