Ken Anderson, president of the company said, We were thrilled to see so many students enter again this year. This is a rewarding program for us; to highlightlocal students writing achievements and provide assistance with educational costs. We look forward to sponsoring this contest again in the future. He continued, The qualityof the writing made this a very tough decision for our community judging panel. The students stories inspired us and we look forward to sharing them with the communityover the coming weeks. Ihave been in several impressive, multi-level

houses or more appropriately described as

mansions with top of the line everything

and all the bells and whistles one could

imagine. The appearance and features of these

places far surpass our very basic rambler. I have

also seen living situations that are much morechallenging than the comforts we are blessed

with. To me, the bottom line is that regardless

of the floor plan or fancy features, the structure

is merely a shelter for those that reside within.

What makes a house a home is the love and

comfort that is shared under the roof and the

memories that take place in a home - these far

outweigh the bling factor.

When I think about our home and what ismeaningful to me, its not the large screen

television on the wall, but rather the fact that

every night we sit down at the dinner table, say

a prayer, and share a meal while recapping the

days activities with each other. All cell phones

and distractions are turned off and it is just the

four of us spending quality time together. I

also value the traditions we have developed

over the years in our home. Wednesdays are

Survivor night where we pop up a big batch ofpopcorn and tune in to watch the latest episode

of Survivor, giving our predictions of what will

happen next and who will get voted off the

island. We have a game night where we play

cards or board games and during the summer

months we have large gatherings on our patio

for barbeques followed by smores around the

fire pit.

I also appreciate the fact that within our home,I have my own dedicated space. My bedroom

is an area to do with as I please. Unfortunately,

I do not keep it as clean as I would like but it is

my space and everyone respects it as so. I enjoy

the fact that family and friends feel comfortable

in our home and come and go as they please.

We have nice neighbors, quality schools, and

a close knit community which all enhance

our surroundings and are positive contributing

factors in making this area such a great place togrow up.

Although I enjoy traveling, going on vacations,

seeing different areas, and learning about

different cultures, it never fails that after being

away a short time I find myself missing our

home and sleeping in my bed as this has been a

place of comfort for me throughout my life and

a place that I know will always be a safe, warm,

loving home to return to.
