This Coidak 500ml Aromatherapy Essential Oil Diffuser 7 Colors LED Lights Changing Waterless Auto Shut-off "No Noise" Ultrasonic Mist Aroma Humidifier with UL-classified Charger Adaptor is my favorite diffuser to keep in the large open kitchen/living/dining room area for several reasons.

Being 500 ml, it is one of the largest capacity diffusers around and you do not have to refill it often. How often depends upon the settings you choose. You can choose high/low for how strong of a mist is generated; high mist uses 80ml per hour and low mist uses 30ml per hour. So if you have your Coldak diffuser set for continuous mist on high it will run about 6 hours and 15 minutes and on low mist it will run about 16 hours and 40 minutes before you need to refill this diffuser. That is a very long time!

You don't need to choose continuous mist. When you turn on your mist, it automatically sets it to run for 60 minutes (1 hour) then automatically turn off, click again and it is set to run for 120 minutes (2 hours), click again and it is set to run for 130 minutes (3 hours), click again and it is set to continuous where it will run until there is not enough water in the tank for it to run, click one last time and it is off.

The Coldak diffuser uses ultrasonic waves to instantly vaporize water and essential oil in the tank to produce a cool, dry fragrant mist. Water molecules are split into a diameter of 0.3 NM producing a large amount of Active Oxygen Anion that completely eliminate the harm of formaldehyde, benzene,ammonia ,TVOC, etc. It is this technology that makes it so quiet.

There is a third button that controls the light function. Click once, and it will set to automatically cycle through all the colors until turned off. Each subsequent push of the light button will bring the follow color set to continuous, muted white, bright white, muted red, bright red, muted green, bright green, muted yellow, bright yellow, muted royal blue, bright royal blue, muted magenta, bright magenta, muted sky blue, bright sky blue, muted white, bright white, and off.

I have used one of these for years and let me tell you that it is my favorite workhorse for the largest rooms in our home. These do require cleaning which is discussed in the enclosed user manual. This Coldak 500ml diffuser comes with a one year warranty and I want to encourage you to get the 3 year protection plan for around five buck here on Amazon because after year 1 when this breaks you will wish it was still working and that five bucks will take care of getting you a new one. I do not consider one year too short as around the time that it dies, it stops coming completely clean so it all works out.

My favorite essential oil is immortelle which is also called everlasting which is pretty expensive but worth it. If you are looking for suggestions for some good essential oils to start with that please most people and create a healthy home, I recommend lavender, mints, any floral, and eucalyptus.

This Coidak 500 ml aromatherapy diffuser is a significant step up from another diffuser that I recently took for a spin (Ultrasonic oil diffuser, Oak Leaf 250ml Automatic Aromatherapy Diffuser and Vaporizer Delivers Full Day of Therapeutic Essential Oil Mist in an Attractive Dual-mode Automatic Unit w/ Switching Power Adapter see my review) in two important ways: 1) It has twice the capacity (500 ml versus 250 ml) and thus roughly twice the maximum runtime and 2) It also has the capability of displaying an alternating seven-color (or just a single color of your choosing, if you desire) LED light show.

I was going to include some photos of the main colors through which the diffuser transitions over time, but I see that this has apparently already been done by the manufacturer so be sure to take a closer look at this products webpage on Amazon.com if you want a better idea of the available colors.

The manufacturer recommends adding 2-3 drops of 100% pure essential oil of your preference per each 100 ml of water added to the diffuser; thus; about 10-15 drops of essential oil for the full 500 ml. When the LIGHT button is pressed once after the diffuser containing the water and oil has been properly covered, you will find yourself in the automatic color-changing mode of the LED. Each additional actuation of the LIGHT button sequentially scrolls through the available 7 colors that the diffusor can display. You can elect to stop at any color of your choosing and keep it as a static color for however long you like, change it later to something else and/or eventually return to the automatically alternating multicolor mode which is the very first setting (single press of the LIGHT button) after the light has turned off.

Each click of the MIST button on the front panel sequentially takes you through 5 timer options: 1) 60 minutes, 2) 120 minutes, 3) 180 minutes, 4) permanently ON and 5) OFF; the active choice except for OFF which is self-explanatory - is indicated by an illuminated green LED. The HIGH/LOW button for mist intensity is the one control that I believe should be improved. It is extremely difficult to determine whether the diffusor has been set to high (80 ml/h or 6.25 hours runtime) or low (30 ml/h or 16.7 hours runtime) mist simply by pressing this button once or twice and then eyeballing the quantity of aromatic mist/vapor being emitted from the device. Instead of a button the HIGH/LOW control should utilize a right/left sliding switch or have an illuminated green LED associated with one of the 2 settings (as is the case with the aforementioned timer selections) to unambiguously indicate the currently active setting. Note that turning the MIST control OFF will also turn off the LED illumination, irrespective of its current setting.

I am personally using a selection of pure essential oils by Kis Oils readily available here on Amazon.com (Aromatherapy Top 6 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade Basic Sampler Essential Oil Gift Set- 6/10 mL [Lavender, Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Lemongrass, Orange, Peppermint]) and have been extremely pleased with the results that I have obtained. Only a few drops (2 or 3 works for me) of the essential oil that you prefer per 100 ml water are needed for a wonderfully fragrant and pleasing olfactory experience throughout the day.

The English language User Manual included is in general easy to understand with a few exceptions - par for the course for products manufactured in China. It also helps that operation of the device itself is essentially intuitive; detailed instructions are not really needed. Another reviewer has mentioned that it might be a good idea to purchase an extended service plan for this aromatherapy diffuser at a cost of about $5.00 for 3 years of coverage. The diffuser already comes with a 12-month manufacturers warranty. In light of the devices relatively modest cost of currently less than $40.00, I dont know that this is such a good idea. Many consumers purchasing this diffuser with a credit card here on Amazon.com will very likely be getting at least one more year of additional warranty coverage for free as one of their credit card benefits.

I have observed that this identical 500 ml aromatherapy diffuser is being sold under various brand names: In addition to the Coidak unit which I am reviewing here, I have also encountered UPPOWER and MIU COLOR models on Amazon.com. I doubt that there are any significant technical differences between these devices, but cannot confirm this since I have had no personal experience with these apparently comparable diffusers.
