Cody Saltsman - The Career of Drew Brees
By Cody Saltsman
Introduction
Steubenville High School student and athlete Cody Saltsman plays as a linebacker and wide receiver on its football team and as a centerfielder on its baseball team. Along with playing football himself, Cody Saltsman enjoys watching the New Orleans Saints and following their quarterback Drew Brees.
Born in 1979, Drew Brees showed his acumen at football from a young age. While playing for Westlake High School in Austin, Texas, he led his team to a perfect record during the regular season, as well as a state championship. His successes continued into college, when he attended Purdue University and became a two-time finalist for the Heisman trophy.

During the 2001 National Football League (NFL) draft, the San Diego Chargers chose Drew Brees as their second-round first pick. A full-time starting quarterback in 2002, he left the team as a free agent in 2005 and was quickly picked up by the New Orleans Saints. Remaining with the Louisiana franchise for over a decade, Brees has garnered numerous honors for his accomplishments on the field. Ranking as the NFL's second most accurate passer in history, he brought the team a Super Bowl championship in 2009 and was named Most Valuable Player that year.
