    1 Introduction

    1.1.1 All works described in this document are to be managed and performed tomeet the health and safety vision of Zero Incidents, Zero Harm, Zero

    Compromisefor the Thames Tideway Tunnel project (the project).

    1.1.2 The Code of Construction Practice(CoCP) comprises two parts:

    a. Part A: General requirements. These measures are applicableproject wide.

    b. Part B: Site-specific requirements. These are site-specific measureswhere deviations from the general requirements are indicated inPart A.

    1.1.3 This document forms the CoCPPart B for the project works at the AbbeyMills Pumping Station site and sets out detailed site-specific measures

    including working hours, site set-up and servicing arrangements, takinginto account environmental matters and consultations with the LondonBorough of Newham and other stakeholders.

    1.1.4 For ease of reference, this document sets out site-specific issues anddeviations from Part A; therefore where no site-specific measures arespecified, reference should be made to Part A.

    1.1.5 A plan of the location of the site is shown inFigure 1.1 overleaf.

    2 General requirements2.1.1 As per the CoCPPart A.

    4 Site operation

    Working hours The following working hours shall apply to this site:

    a. standard

    b. extended

    c. continuous.

    When other types of working hours (CoCPPart A,Table 4.1) are required, these will be subject to

    consent from the local authority under Section 61 ofthe Control of Pollution Act 1974.

    Site layout As per the CoCPPart A.

    Site security/hoardingrequirements

    The hoarding shall incorporate suitable artwork onpublic-facing sections, as defined in CoCPPart A

    para. 4.3.4a.Adequate security barriers of either steel open meshfencing or closed board hoarding shall be providedaround the worksite.

    River works As per the CoCPPart A.

    5 Public access, highway and river transport

    Topic Site-specific requirement

    Site access and gates Access to the project worksite shall be via ThamesWater pumping station land from Abbey Lane/GayRoad only, left turn in and right turn out only.

    Limited parking for workers shall be permitted at thissite.

    Traffic management Sections of on-street parking along Abbey Lane shallbe suspended, as shown in the traffic assessment.

    Site vehicles shall not be permitted to wait at any

    point along Abbey Lane. A suitable escort shall beprovided for special types of vehicles (General Order2003) (Special Types General Order) and other longloads along Abbey Lane to forewarn other roadusers.

    Double yellow line parking restrictions shall beapplied at some locations on Abbey Lane.

    Hours of single yellow line parking restrictions shallbe extended and additional single yellow linerestrictions applied on Abbey Lane.

    The contractor shall give due consideration toresidents and other users of Abbey Lane fromStratford High Street to the existing Abbey MillsPumping Station in the traffic management plan.This includesAbbey Lane Sure Start ChildrensCentre, which provides services for the blind/partiallysighted. The traffic management plan shall include arequirement to notify all suppliers of risks of andcontrols on using Abbey Lane, including the no-waiting constraint. This shall include restrictions ondelivery hours, where practical. Speed limits shall bestrictly enforced.
