But CfJ is sKll unstable!
• Small capital – Need grant!
• Weak brigade support – Just a few brigades are very acKve
• Weak governance – We don’t have much coordinators who can commit to CfJ

What would residents need?
• InformaKon about the town and their own houses. – Know what radiaKon level is around their own houses.
– Know when they can return.
• CommunicaKon – Residents want to talk about their old neighborhood to maintain their regional accent.
![Page 20: Code for Japan Fellowship showcase](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022051612/54c63ab24a7959c9388b46c5/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
What will we do for Namie?
• We will decide development partners • Fellows will manage an agile development process with the partners
• Main funcKons: – Real-‐Kme radiaKon maps – Keep up with local news – Community noKces – Sharing photos of Namie – DistribuKng administraKve informaKon
![Page 21: Code for Japan Fellowship showcase](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022051612/54c63ab24a7959c9388b46c5/html5/thumbnails/21.jpg)
Further Fellowship Issues
• Residents have a basic level of IT literacy. • Choosing appropriate partners • Developing efficiently
![Page 22: Code for Japan Fellowship showcase](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022051612/54c63ab24a7959c9388b46c5/html5/thumbnails/22.jpg)
Challenges of next year
• Get enough grant – To build an official support program for CfJ brigades
– To create a community website for brigades • Extend fellowship – Start in other regions – Try corporate fellowship program
• Promote civic tech – Hold ‘Code for Japan Summit’ 10-‐12th October
![Page 23: Code for Japan Fellowship showcase](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022051612/54c63ab24a7959c9388b46c5/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
Main difficulKes for extending the fellowship
Ordinary local governments don’t have enough budget for the fellowship
Japanese labor market is not mobilized to hire high skill fellows
![Page 24: Code for Japan Fellowship showcase](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022051612/54c63ab24a7959c9388b46c5/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
New idea: corporate fellowship
• We are discussing three months fellowship with companies – CfJ defines ‘Scope of Work’ with local governments
– Companies send their employees as a fellow – CfJ arranges teams formed by the fellows – The team works under the CfJ’s governance – Companies pay management fee to CfJ
![Page 25: Code for Japan Fellowship showcase](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022051612/54c63ab24a7959c9388b46c5/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
Issues we want to discuss today
• How should the head office manage/help fellows?
• How can we extend current fellowship to other regions?
• What is the best way of sharing our experiences internaKonally?
