SPECIALIST PROGRAM REVIEW SURVEY

In the next week, the eldest child in each family will be bringing home a sealed envelope addressed to

their respective families, containing a survey. There is one survey per family and we ask that once

completed, they be returned to the school office in the enclosed school envelope by 4pm Friday 21st

June 2019. We ask that as many families as possible return these surveys.

An independent external Reviewer is conducting the survey. The information you provide will assist

the Reviewer in assessing our Specialist Programs and make recommendations for future planning.

These recommendations will assist our school in planning for what programs will most benefit the

future learning needs of all our students and community. I thank you in anticipation for your input and

assistance with this survey

SCHOOL WIDE POSITIVE BEHAVIOURS

During Term 3, we will also be asking our parent and carer community members for their input as we

begin to establish the foundations needed to build our School Wide Positive Behaviours Program. This

SWPBs program will support our whole school community to strengthen environments enabling all

students to be happy, healthy, engaged and successful members of CWPS. As previously reported Ms

Rigby, Mr Copping and I have attended training workshops and more recently met with the Regional

Officer of the SWPBs program to plan this process. Early in term 3, all staff and students will be

involved in various tasks to gather data and evaluate current and future needs. Similar tasks will also

be shared with the community to provide the opportunity for community voice in our work to

establish this program. We will keep you informed and look forward to your input.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

This coming Wednesday 19th June at 6pm, the CWPS Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place.

This is an opportunity to present the 2018 Annual Report, which is a reflection of the schools work

over the 2018 school year. There will be a brief presentation of the data contained in this report,

ending by 6:30pm. After which, the June School Council meeting will begin. Depending on attendance

numbers, the AGM will take place in either the staffroom or the meeting room in the main

Administration block. After the AGM, the full 2018 Annual Report will be available on our school

website for your viewing.

PARENT AND TEACHER MEETINGS REMINDER

On Wednesday 26th June 2019, all parents/carers will have the opportunity to meet with their child’s

teachers for a 15-minute meeting. These meetings allow for discussion on progress and more

importantly, future learning needs and expectations. This is a non-teaching day, so children do not

attend school but are required to attend the meetings with their parents/carers. Our OSHC are

providing some care on this day, so please see the information following in this newsletter, regarding

the booking requirements.

To arrange your Parent & Teacher Meeting, log in to COMPASS as bookings are now open. Bookings

must be made on COMPASS. If you have more than one teacher to meet with, please ensure you leave

at least one 15 minute gap between meetings, to allow for movement and delays. Meeting times are

from 12pm to 6:45pm, with the last meeting finishing at 7pm sharp. Please be mindful that

every meeting is 15 minutes and if you should run over time, it causes delays to other parents and

teachers. If you are requiring additional time, a mutually agreed time should be arranged with that

teacher.

TISSUES NEEDED

Given that winter has definitely set in, we are going through tissue boxes at amazing rates. We kindly

ask that parents and carers donate a box of tissues to their child’s class. If each child was able to

donate one box, with over 20 boxes per class, we might be able to get through the high demand of

these winter months.

AFTER SCHOOL PICK UP

I wish to remind all parents and carers that when waiting for your child at the end of the day, that you

do so outside in the yard. If your child is in an internal classroom or upstairs, it is safer for all parents

and carers to await their child outside in the courtyard or other areas of the yard. This is a major safety

issue as it is becoming dangerous with more trips, falls and bumps occurring. We need to avoid such

congestion this is causing in corridors, stairwells and doorways. I kindly ask that for the safety of all

children, you adhere to this simple request.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the various Learning Expos over the coming weeks.

Kind regards, M. Colagrande Principal

Dear Parents,

This year our school is participating in Jump Rope for Heart – a fantastic physical activity and

fundraising program by the Heart Foundation that has been running for over 35 years.

Since Jump Rope for Heart started in 1983, schools like yours have raised more than $104 million for

the Heart Foundation’s lifesaving work.

Jump Rope for Heart is a great way for your child to keep fit and learn new skills, but it also helps

raise funds for vital heart research and education programs.

To make fundraising fun and easy, you can create your own secure webpage at jumprope.org.au

Sign up to share your child’s progress and let the funds roll in. Your child can earn virtual badges

along the way and your page will highlight the prizes up for grabs.

Sign up here today: www.jumprope.org.au

Jump Rope for Heart’s last day for raising money is Friday 21st June. So far, we have raised $1,215!

Fantastic work everyone.

Thank you for supporting the Jump Rope for Heart program!

WOW! I have the amazing privilege of logging onto the Victorian Premier’s

Reading Challenge and seeing all the amazing books that students are reading.

The variety is wonderful... from Roald Dahl's Matilda to Mem Fox's Possum

Magic to J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter series. Keep up the variety of books being

read but don’t forget to register those books.

We now have 11 students who have completed the challenge however they

continue to read on for their love of books and for the pleasure of reading.

Registering those books ensures that your name is added to the completed list.

Remember that those students who complete the challenge and read the most

books for their year level will also receive a Premier's Reading Challenge pin to

acknowledge their efforts. There are only 7 pins across the school that will be

handed out when the certificates arrive in Term 4.

Keep up the great work, book worms!

From Miss Amerena
