Theprocess:OSEIIisappliedtoaspill,thebiosurfactantsattackthemolecularstructure

ofthe

hydrocarbon,bybreakingthespillintosmallparticles,thentheoilissolubilizedwhich

theoilwaterinterfaceallinapproximately30minutes.DuringthisprocesstheOSEII

enzymes

formproteinbindingsitesthatwillactascatalyststoinducetheenhancedbacteriato

utilize

thebrokendownhydrocarbonasafoodsource.Oncethesereactionshaveoccurred

severalthingsbecomeapparent,theoilisbrokenup,adhesionpropertiesarediminished

(whichcauses

oiltoreleasefrommarshgrass,vessels,BIRDS,marinespecies,beachesandmore)the

fire

hazardisreduced(whichprotectsresponders&ports)theoiliscausedtofloat(which

prevents

secondarycontaminatedareas)andmostimportantlytheoilisdetoxifiedsoitcanbe

usedasa

foodsourceatwhichpointtheoilisdigestedtoanendpointofCO2andwater;andthen

theenhancedbacteriadieofftoprespillbackgroundlevels.Whilethesereactionsare

occurringOSEII'snutrientsystemisrapidlycolonizingindigenousbacteria(OSEIIdoes

not

introducenonindigenousbacteriaintoanyecosystem).Oncetheindigenousbacteria

runout

oftheOSEIInutrientsthebacteriathenutilizetheonlyfoodsourceleft,thedetoxified

oil.

TherearealsoconstituentsinOSEIIoncemixedandactivatedbynaturalwater,cause

OSEII

constituentstomolecularlyadheretohydrocarbons,sonomatterwherethecurrent,or

tidal

actionpushestheoilOSEIIwillstaywithit.OSEIIcanbeusedonthesurface,belowthesurface,ontheoceanfloor,inmarshes,estuaries,sandorsoilbeachesonrocks,inbays,ports
