The Richmond Branch of the Australian Red Cross is again sponsoring the Anzac Day Service in Richmond on Thursday 25th April and serving Morning Tea afterwards in the Richmond Hall. Help from the community with providing the Morning Tea would as always be greatly appreciated. This was followed by catering for the Suppers at the Dance Hall Nights held in Richmond and Cambridge in late November/early December, a Sausage Sizzle at the Prospect House Open Day, at the Jazz Festival on the Village Green with our homemade pork rolls and hamburgers and the Richmond Village Fair on Sunday 31st March serving our delicious Devonshire Teas and Mixed Plates (Sandwiches and a selection of slices/cake).We thank John and Libby Pooley for their generosity in allowing us to participate in the Open House and hold a sausage sizzle in the garden of the beautifully restored Prospect House. RICHMOND FOOTBALL CLUB

With round 1 of the 2019 season almost upon us I’d like to take this opportunity to give our supporters a little update of how the footy club is shaping for the upcoming season. After narrowly losing last year’s grand final the boys have really got to work over the summer and got themselves in excellent condition. We had a big focus on our running through January and early February and now with practice games well underway, match simulation work has been vital. I’d like to thank Glenn and Lisa Fogarty from Activ8 fitness who have taken us for an extra boxing/fitness class on a Monday night. They both run a super program which has been very beneficial for our football club. Our practice game form has been promising starting off on March 3 with a comfortable win over University. We then travelled up north to play the NTFA Div 1 best side in South Launceston and were able to come away with a hard earned 9 point victory. Adding extra talent to your list is crucial each year and I’m pleased to say we’ve recruited well in the off season. Brad Joseph returns to us from a stint in Cairns and can play anywhere around the ground. Harry Richmond is an up and coming star who played TSL senior footy for Clarence last year. Zak Bird is a proven goal kicker who arrives to us from Brighton. Tyler Ford is another handy inclusion who won the best on ground medal for Bothwell in last year’s ODFA grand final, while ex Burnie Dockers junior Brodie Johnstone who has had a year off footy is another who is expected to play a huge part in 2019.

All in all, the footy club is in another strong position as we approach the start of another long grind. Thank you to everyone out there especially our generous sponsors who continue to stick with us. Get along and support this great footy club as we aim to play in our 5th grand final in a row!! Come along and support the local football Club
