Ensuring Children Stand on Their Own Two Feet2011 Health Honoree Dr. Ashok Banskota uses our Award to help children walk for the first time.

Dr. Ashok Banskota provides urgently needed medical care to Nepal’s most

disadvantaged children, many of whom suffer from disabilities or deformities that

limit their physical mobility and cause them to be ostracized by society. Since receiving

World of Children Award funds last year, Dr. Banskota and his team have already

changed the lives of 96 children with clubfoot, the world’s most common congenital

birth defect. Because of your support and Dr. Banskota’s care, these children are now

able to take their first steps toward a better future.

Launching a Hero to Change Young Lives 2011 Youth Honoree Neha Gupta is boldly leveraging our Award to empower even more children.

Our mission is not only to fund the work of our Honorees, but also to

help them gain exposure in order to increase awareness about their

crucial work for children. The media has enthusiastically sought out

Neha Gupta since she received a World of Children Award last year. So

far, she has been featured on CNN, ABC, NBC, ESPN and Teen Vogue. This

exposure sparked further national recognition for Neha; she has since

been named a 2012 Prudential Spirit of Community Award recipient, a

Kohl’s Cares Award Winner, a 2012 NHL All-Star World Changers winner

and a USA Weekend Make a Difference Day 2012 National Winner. The

World of Children Award would like to congratulate Neha on all of her

recent honors and wish her well in her unending dedication to the

world’s most vulnerable children.

Save this Date! 15th Annual Awards Ceremony Lights Up New YorkMark your calendars for Thursday evening, October 25, 2012 for our 15th Annual World of Children Awards Ceremony! Last year we welcomed guests from all over the world and from 10 different states to meet our inspirational heroes serving children in need.

The upcoming event will honor our 2012 Award Recipients at 583 Park Avenue in New York City, and will be hosted by our Board of Governors and Co-Chaired by Christine and Doug Harmon, Jamie Barry and Jerry Politzer, Ann O’Malley and Mark Scheinberg and Honorary Event Chairs, Beth and Jim Gold.

In the spirit of celebrating our 15th year of honoring, funding and elevating the work of child advocates from around the world, the World of Children Award will shine a special spotlight on our first ever Youth Award Recipient, Craig Kielburger. We recognized Craig back in 2002 for his work with Free the Children, an organization that he founded at the age of 12. Today, Free the Children is the largest children-for-children organization in the world, with over one million young people in 45 countries working to provide education to children around the globe. We will be presenting Craig and Free the Children with a program grant during the 15th Anniversary event, which will be leveraged by his gold standard organization to impact the lives of even more children.

Alina Cho, CNN National Correspondent and long-time World of Children Award supporter, will receive the 2012 Board of Governors’ Award, which will be presented by Cindi Leive, Editor-in-Chief of Glamour magazine. Stepping in for Alina as this year’s Master of Ceremonies will be World of Children Award Celebrity Ambassador and actress, Stephanie March, best known for her role on Law and Order: SVU.

Please contact our World of Children Award team if you are interested in joining us at the 15th Annual Awards Ceremony or if you would like to stand with our prestigious event sponsors. We hope to see you there!
