First and foremost, I would like to thank the unit SPIL(Engine Plant),

Punjab technical university, and engineering campus SSIET Derabassi. for

introducing me into the real world of career. This has been the greatestopportunity for me to gain the experiences, knowledge and expertise regarding

to a carrier as Mechanical engineer.

I would like to express my heartiest gratitude to Lt.col. N S Julka SSIET

(TPO), for giving me opportunity to work with SPIL unit.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my profound sense of

gratitude and respect to all those who helped me throughout the duration of

this training. The Punjab technical University, in particular has been the source

of inspiration for me and I wonder how I will pay the debts.

I would like to express my heartiest appreciation to SPIL(Engine Plant)

administration especially Mr. R.K Gupta, AGM Engine production,

Mrs Chanchlaa Mistry (HR Deptt), and Deepak Sarraf training manager for

accepting me as a traineethrough out the last month.

I would also like to thank the SPIL employees without whom this report cannot be completed.

I would like to thank my greatest source of support, my god & parents for

Diesel Engine Plant- Suzuki Powertrain India Limited:

Suzuki Powertrain India Limited the diesel engine plant atManesar is SMC's & Maruti's first plant designed to produce worldclass diesel engine and transmissions for cars. The plant is under a

joint venture company, called Suzuki Powertrain India Limited (SPIL)in which SMC holds 70 per cent equity the rest is held by MSIL. Thisfacility has an initial capacity to manufacture 100,000 diesel enginesa year. This will be scaled up to 3,00,000 engines/annum by 2010.

The Diesel Engine and Transmission Subsidiary of SMC and MarutiSuzuki India limited joint venture situated at Manesar. ManufacturesSX4 Engines & Swift diesel engines and in future all diesel engines areplanned to be manufactured here. Almost Every Gearbox manufacturedhere.

The plant was constructed at the site next to the Manesar Plant of

Maruti. Under a license agreement with Fiat Auto, the company will

produce diesel engines of which vehicles represent 30% of the total

car sales in the Indian market. The initial production capacity is

100,000 units a year.
