CARNIVAL! It is show time at the Sambodrome! This large avenue was designed by the famous architect, the modernist Oscar Niemeyer. The avenue was inaugurated in 1984 and built specially for the carnival parade where the samba schools show off their hard effort of having worked on their show during the past 365 days! Each school has a ‘theme’, all costumes are coordinated accordingly and they have 80 minutes to perform their show. The costumes are extremely imaginative, colorful, elaborate and detailed. They are truly original, designed and mode from scratch each year. They have mirrors, feathers, metallic cloth, silk and sometimes gems or coins. There are about 3500 to 5000 performers, all of them dressed in rich costumes that describe the plot of the story the school is presenting. The subjects of these stories are usually related to either famous world personalities or historical aspects of Brazil. The main parts of the theme are shown on floats that vary from 8 to 15 meters high. The song’s lyrics make it easier to understand what goes on and the more the audience accepts their beat and music, the more they will be cheered and win points. The samba schools are all similar in quality and all have great potential. It is very hard to choose which one is the best. The samba Parade is a glorious competition and the schools are judged in 10 categories. After the carnival, everybody will know who will be the winner among the best five samba schools of the year. A week after carnival, there is the Winner’s parade, where only the Winner and four other samba schools will celebrate the title. With this ticket, you will have access to an exclusive VIP luxury suite that covers the price of select alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and a personal waiter services for VIP. Grandstands. Camarotes are the most exclusive seats in the Sambadrome. Camarote tickets are the most highly

sought after of all Rio Carnival tickets and offer spectacular visibility of the parades from the comfort of your very

own indoor box. A Camarote ticket to the Sambadrome grants you access to your specially decorated indoor suite,

along with VIP services that include a buffet, an open bar and waiting service.

Camarotes are the ticket of choice for national and internationally known high-profile people, including celebrities, dignitaries and even royalty. Therefore, while the Sambadrome is widely considered to be the safest spot in South America during the festival of Carnival, Luxury Boxes offer enhanced security. Camarotes are spread out along the Samba runway of the Passarela Professor Darcy Ribeiro from Sectors 2-11. Prior to the renovations in preparation for the 2016 Summer Olympics, Sector 2 was one long structure that only offered luxury boxes.
