We believe in British design and manufacturing, as we lead the way in the development of USB and induction charging, but we welcome innovative design from overseas as we champion the sit-stand working revolution with introduction of Winston, our range of retrofittable single and dual screen sit-stand workstations.

It offers all the benefits you would expect of a premium adjustable gas lift arm with the added benefit of an extensive range of useful features to further enhance its function making life in a busy working office more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. Cygnus® is available in a range of colour options with a choice of gas struts for when you need a more heavy duty arm.

Motion does share common styling with Air ensuring the aesthetics are not comprised when the arms share the same floor space.

Vision flat screen armVision is a design classic monitor arm which offers the ergonomic benefits of a flat screen monitor arm yet is more affordable than its more prestigious gas lift rivals. Vision can be installed at different heights to suit different environments with rotation and height adjustments being made by the individual users. The 38mm diameter pole allows a huge 330mm of height adjustment, while the design also allows a full 360 degrees of swivel movement with full head tilt to be positioned at the optimum eye level.

This module sites diectly on the desk surface so no fixings are required.

Grommet Mount Module

This module is fixed to the desk using an 80mm grommet hole fixing and is secured using a simple screw fit mechanism.

Horizon power and dataThe Horizon through desk module offers accessible power and data sockets at the desk top. This unit fits flush into the desktop with an angular and smooth aesthetic finish. Spring release buttons lock unit above desk surface. These are then pushed together to allow the unit to retract into housing below desk surface. The Horizon’s lid retracts to allow access from both sides, when opened it lifts and locks proud of the desk surface which makes it ideal for use in boardrooms or conference tables. Horizon is finished in Fusion Silver.

To fix modules to a surface:

• Flip up all rubber screw cover caps with a flat blade screwdriver

• Insert through all holes a No 8 pozi-pan screw or M4 bolt to the required length

• Tighten the screw/bolt down to the mounting surface.• Replace the rubber screw caps

To connect the Rotasoc modules:

Connection to be made by a competent person only.

1. Check that both male and female ends have the same colour coded busbar shields

2. Turn modules over and release the grey cam-lock lever with a small screwdriver into the upright position

3. Locate the male and female ends and push together until fully closed

4. Press the grey cam-lock lever over until flush with the casing to lock the modules together Clean Earth and fused options available

Electrical safetyBS 6396 Electrical Systems in Office Furniture & Educational Furniture

Electrical equipment and installations must be designed and tested to ensure their safety and to comply with statutory regulations, in particular the “Electricity at Work Regulations”. Relevant British Standards may be used as a means of demonstrating safety and compliance with the regulations. In the case of electrical systems in office furniture and educational furniture, the relevant standard for systems connected to the mains supply by means of a 13A plug is BS 6396.

Sockets installed in office furniture are intended to supply office equipment with a rating not exceeding 5A with BS 6396 referring to all office furniture electrical installations when completed must be tested. Section 7 of BS 6396 sets out the procedures. These tests should also be carried out on reconfigured desks and screens as well as new installations. Periodic inspections and tests must be carried out to fulfil the requirements of BS 6396 and the “Electricity at Work Regulations” in maintaining a safe working environment.

The diagrams below indicate the maximum number of socket outlets that may be connected from a single powersupply cable fed from a 13 Amp BS 1363 plug and their relevant fuse ratings.

BS 5733 General requirements for electrical accessories

BS 5733 specifies requirements and tests to check the safety in normal use of electrical accessories which are not covered by other specific British Standards. Such accessories are intended for use in household, commercial and light industrial premises where:

• The nominal supply voltage does not exceed 250 V a.c. single-phase, 50 Hz to 60 Hz or 250 V d.c.; • The rated current of the accessory does not exceed 63A.

Unless otherwise stated by the manufacturer, accessories conforming to this standard are intended for connection by cables or flexible cords conforming to BS 6004, BS 6007, BS 6500 or BS 7211. BS EN 61535

BS EN 61535 Installation couplers intended for permanent connection in fixed installations

This standard applies to two, three, four and five wire installation couplers including earth, (if provided), with a rated voltage up to and including 500V a.c. and a rated connecting capacity up to and including 10mm for permanent connection in indoor electrical installations. Installation couplers with additional contacts for voltages other than mains voltages are outside the scope of this standard.

The 63 Amp Betatrak® System caters for single phase standard, clean earth (CE) low noise, auxiliary, three phase or dual applications. Betatrak® comes in lengths of 1.2m, 1.8m, 2.4m or 3.6m with tap off positions provided at 300mm as standard (Note: 150mm & 600mm available on request). As a result, the system is extremely versatile and suitable for high to low density tap off requirements.

All integral connectors and tap off plug sockets are colour coded to avoid any possible errors during assembly. For maximum safety each operates a shutter on insertion to ensure no accidental contact can be made.

Installation

Betatrak® used within raised access floors is normally arranged in parallel runs with the feed units to the Betatrak® orientated towards the incoming supply. This offers an economic format inherent in long straight runs. Spacing should be a maximum of 5 metres between each length of track and 2.5 metres from the perimeter when using a standard 3 metre tap off to a floor box.

Attention should be given to the total power requirements to avoid exceeding the maximum power rating of the Busbar.

How to install the Busbar

Starting with the feed unit, remove the dust cover over the colour coded socket and simply snap the integral coupler, pre-installed on the busbar, into the feed socket. The next length of track is then fitted to the socket end of the first length of busbar as previously described, this is then repeated for the following lengths until the run is complete. On the final length of busbar section the dust cover supplied is fitted on the final unused coupling point to protect against the ingress of foreign contaminants. The feed unit is then secured via the slots in the base and the busbar every 1200mm (max) by using the mounting brackets provided.

CMD is registered by BSI to BS EN ISO 9001 & BS EN ISO 14001. Betatrak® is designed to comply with regulation 434.2 of BS 7671: 2008 Amd 3 (IEE Wiring Regulations) & 543.7 earthing requirements for the installation of equipment having high protective conductor currents.

The scope of Reg. 543.7.1.3 requires that every final circuit is intended to supply one or more items of equipment, where the total protective conductor current is likely to exceed 10mA. in normal use, shall have a high protective connection.

Tap offs are colour coded and non-interchangeable between busbar types. The slide locking, positive latching tap off plug prevents accidental disconnection and can be added to or removed from the busbar while the system is live. All 3 metre, 32 Amp tap offs incorporate an unfused plug, and as standard, 16mmØ metal flexible conduit enclosing 3 metres of 4mm2 cables. These units are designed to comply with Regulation 434.2.1 of BS 7671:2008 Amd 3. 5 metre unfused tap offs are also available for use with individual track runs that are rated at no more than 32Amp, where the protection of the tap off against both overload and fault current is provided by the track protective device.

CMD tap off units conform to the high integrity protective requirement by virtue of using a protective conductor of 4mm enclosed within a flexible conduit, thus providing additional protection against mechanical damage.

32 Amp 3 metre tap off unit is comprised of an unfused plug with 16mmØ flexible metal conduit with integral 3m x 4mm2 cables.

These units are designed to comply with regulations 434.2.1(i) BS 7671:2008 Amd 3 by virtue of the following:

1. Maximum length of cable is <3 metres.

2. Minimum risk of faults as the item is factory assembled and fully tested.

3. Fully protected by flexible steel conduit located within raised access floor that offers further protection.

Shallow flush floor trunking

Our access floor boxes are available for shallow screed trunking.

The underside of the box must be set lower into the floor to enable cables to pass under the socket outlet plates whilst maintaining lids to finish level with the screed.

The carpet trim and lid assembly are manufactured in a polycarbonate ABS moulding which has two individual hinged cable outlets coloured in dark grey. The lid is reinforced by a 3mm steel plate and has a carpet recess of 6.5mm.

NB This box is really a 4 compartment style with double width compartments. Utilise the 4 compartment accessory plates i.e you can fit two plates in the power compartment and one plate to the other two compartments.

Our Shallow Flush Floor trunking system has been designed for the distribution of and access to power and data services in screeded floors, particularly where flexibility in the positioning of access floor boxes are required.

Shallow Flush Floor Trunking System consists of three main elements:

• 2m trunking lengths with a range of junction units, bends and end stops.

• A shallow flush floor access box with an overall depth of 75mm. Boxes to be located at the end of trunking lengths.

• A wide range of power and data socket plates.

The trunking and accessories are manufactured in self-coloured pre-galvanised steel. The trunking is supplied in two metre lengths, complete with 2 x 1 metre lengths of lid secured by means of flush, all steel turnbuckle fasteners. Each length of trunking is supplied with one external fitting connector which is fully removable. Lids are manufactured from 3mm thick galvanised steel and it is recommended that the trunking is installed on a ribbon screed or similar to ensure support along the entire length. A comprehensive range of junctions, riser bends and sealing ends are available for use with the trunking.

Our access floor boxes are available for flush floor trunking and come complete as a ‘frame & lid’ with a choice of accessory plates to suit your requirements. Our boxes are designed to fit into the trunking anywhere along the system layout excluding junction points.

Buried underfloor trunkingOur buried underfloor trunking is designed for placing on the constructional concrete slab, to be completely covered when the final floor screed is laid and the service outlet positions fixed.

Our steel underfloor trunking is manufactured in 2 metre lengths with two or three compartments being the most commonly used.

The trunking lengths are a total welded construction with no need to couple together loose channel sections and each length is joined together by a saddle clamp and plate, which prevent any ingress of screed into the duct.

Buried Junction boxes are supplied with flange couplers and blank plates to enable use as angles, tee or 4 way. Each box comes complete with fly-over for cable segregation. Junction boxes cannot be used to house sockets or data outlets. Carpet recess is 6mm.

Screed stainless steel floor boxes3 or 4 compartment stainless steel access floor box comprises of three distinct assemblies: the box base, the mounting frame and purpose made stainless steel frame/lid assembly. The box base has 20mm and 25mm conduit knockouts in each long side and dividing fillets that are provided to separate services. The box base is manufactured from galvanised steel and comes complete with a grid to accept interchangeable accessories.

The mounting frame is manufactured from galvanised steel and has two fixing holes in each long side. The frame/lid tray assembly is manufactured from brushed stainless steel with straight edges and cable outlet brackets in the same material. The recess in the tray lid is 23mm deep. Maximum outside size of S/S trim is 325mm x 193mm and overall box depth is 99mm. The box is provided with jacking legs for levelling and adjustment – Screed option only.

The real cost of inefficient lighting

It’s well known that lighting accounts for around 20% of a business’ energy costs, or put another way, that’s nearly a fifth of a typical electricity bill. (Source: Carbon Trust).

New research has found that up to 40% of an electricity bill is spent on inefficient lighting. Take a look at some examples where lighting can become an unnecessary cost to your business:

• Lights are left on when they’re not needed. A typical office is only occupied between 25-30% of the week• If a building is lit constantly around the clock that equates to a staggering 70-75% energy wastage – or around

All 230v Switch Modules require a 4 core (live, neutral, earth and permanent live) feed to enable the module to function correctly.

• Each 230v 1-Way Switch Module has been provided with a port for the incoming unswitched feed and a port for the outgoing switched feed to the luminaires. Ports are also provided for both the outgoing unswitched feed so additional modules can be attached to the same circuit and for the connection to the 230v 1-way wall switch or 230v PIR. Wieland GST 18i 4 Pole plugs are required to connect to these ports

• Each 230v 2-Way Switch Module has been provided with a port for the incoming unswitched feed and a port for the outgoing switched feed to the luminaires. Ports are also provided for two 230v wall switch drops. There is no facility for an unswitched feed to allow further modules to be attached to the same circuit. Wieland GST 18i 4 Pole plugs are required to connect to these ports

• When using a 1-Way Switch Module with multiple PIRs a 230v 3-Way Circuit Splitter Module should be used to provide the additional ports needed

• When using a 2-way Switch Module with 3 or more switch points additional wall switches can be installed using a 230v Intermediate Switched T Piece

• If used the wall switch for a 230v Switch Drop must be a positive action switch

• The emergency test may take place at the distribution boards or via a local key switched T piece – there is no built in facility for testing the emergency live

The dashboard

Data is sent via the gateway and is displayed in

a user friendly format. The dashboard will allow

users to schedule, set thresholds, and control all

connected modules.

Footprint is a system that gives the user total control. Connecting appliances to the Footprint power module will allow users to collate energy usage data, monitor activity levels and schedule power.


The master socket with built in smart meter technology

The master socket is an uncontrolled outlet. The additional data obtained from this socket can be used to control the auxiliary sockets depending upon the operational mode set. The in-built smart meter measures and transmits highly accurate consumption data which can then be reported on.

The gateway

The Gateway is the hub of the system. The gateway sends messages from devices, equipment or web browsers using SSL certificates to encrypt the information that is passed. The SSL certificate provides encryption between the web browser or device and the host server platform and implements 128 bit AES/TLS encryption for all traffic. The gateways need to be positioned a minimum of 2m from a Wi-fi access point.

The power module

The power module allows users to connect appliances in order to make them smart as well as controllable. Using the recognised low power wireless technology of Zigbee®, the power module communicates to the Gateway allowing for energy monitoring and device control. Zigbee® has been designed for wireless mesh networking enabling hundreds of devices to transmit information to one another in real time. Due to its versatile nature, the mesh network also means that if one device stops transmitting, the system will continue to operate. The power modules are pre-configured to connect to the Gateway with minimal consumer set-up.

The dashboard

The control centre of operations, the Dashboard will allow different types of users to monitor activities and get involved. The Dashboard will collect energy usage and display it as usable data in the form of expenditure, CO2, and KWh used. Not only a monitoring tool, the Dashboard allows you to control the entire system.

for users to take responsibility and ownership of their own

actions fuelling behavioural changes to take place.

Manage

With informed and evidence based data being available you

can improve your energy use.

Monitor

If you want to improve it you first have to monitor it. By seeing

exactly how much electricity is being consumed, it is easier to

introduce changes to make savings.

Target

When taking accurate readings it is easier for companies

to benchmark a starting point and then look to introduce

appropriate targets to measure the process being made.
