Description: ASPCA, which stands for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to

Animals, is dedicated towards advocating for animal rights and educating students on how to

correctly care for animals through discussions and firsthand experiences. During our meetings,

we discuss current events that pertain to the mistreatment of animals, have informational guest

speakers with expertise on animal affairs, attend volunteer events at local animal shelters and

rescues, and help them with different fundraising events. We hope to make a difference, in and

out of Northwood, with a variety of opportunities in which the students can be involved with. In

the end, we hope we will have provided you with more knowledge about what’s happening in

the world of politics for animals, how you can help, and gain more of an appreciation for our

pets.

Description: Comfort Zone Club fundraises and then donates to the organization Comfort Zone

Camp, which we stem from. Comfort Zone Camp is a nonprofit bereavement camp that

transforms the lives of children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or primary

caregiver. The free camps include confidence building programs and age-based support groups

that break the emotional isolation grief often brings. Comfort Zone Club also helps publicize the

organization and send kids to volunteer for the camps.

Description: At the Competitive Smash Bros Club, the main goal is to provide an environment in

which the students of Northwood High school can relieve themselves from their everyday

stresses and play the Super Smash Bros video games together. The club focuses specifically

on Super Smash Bros. Melee and its competitive aspects. The club will also host tournaments

and fundraising events in which the proceeds will go towards an organization named Child's

Play, which helps children in hospitals or domestic violence shelters by providing toys and video

games to relieve their stress.

Description: Our club's mission is to provide a safe space for LGBTQ+ students to socialize,

advocate for human rights, and learn about LGBTQ+ related issues. Our current goals are to

collaborate with other human rights clubs on campus to stress the importance of understanding

intersectionality, and to continue our annual Pride Week here on campus. This was a new,

school-wide idea we implemented last year to have all Northwood students participate in

celebrating the diversity of students here on campus, particularly queer-identifying students.

We had difficulty publicizing this last year and we hope to improve the hype, organization and

popularity of this event.

Description: We are a student ­led organization that teaches leadership through service

projects. Along with our partner, UNICEF, we serve to eliminate PTP from the face of earth. The

process of achieving these goals go along the lines of: volunteering at marathons, Katie

Wheeler, Coast keeper Beach Clean­-ups, as well as numerous large events such as: Fall

Rally, DCON, and OTC/RTC (regional training conferences). Through these events we not only

offer 5­6 events per week to our members, but also communicate and promote the idea of

Description: We are a high school chapter based on the Kids Who Care Foundation, a nonprofit

organization founded in Orange County. The main purpose of the club is to cheer up terminally

engage in volunteer programs established by the foundation. These include the construction of

Description: The club’s focus is to bring awareness to disaster preparedness at school and our

community through a Teen Community Emergency Response Team (Teen CERT) Program.

The CERT club will educate its members about disaster preparedness for hazards that may

impact their area and train them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light

search and rescue, emergency team organization, disaster medical operations, disaster

psychology and terrorism. In addition, the club will also take an active role in providing support

to the school’s emergency preparedness plan, such as emergency drills and overseeing its
