This club is very non-stressful, and it is a great way to become a more well-rounded individual, as well as form a tight circle of friends around campus.

During meetings we have presentations regarding various astronomy related topics, professional guest speakers, discussions on the latest NASA occurrences, fun astronomy games, volunteer opportunities, and much more! Astronomy Club also holds annual Stargazing Nights and participates in many events such as the annual IPSF STEAM Carnival, so be sure to come by room 1022 the first and third Thursday of every month to get involved! We compete in the annual USA Biology Olympiad Open Exam in February, an exam that is free for all high schoolers to take. BioLy also hosts the annual STEM Fest, an after school event that showcases high-budget demonstrations that can’t be performed in typical science classes. We regularly collaborate with science clubs of the other IUSD high schools in order to bring high-quality exhibitions and events to all students of the district. Throughout the year, we hold fundraisers for local and national non-profits (e.g. Irvine LIGHTS, The Mauli Ola Foundation, etc.). In order to make the spread of biology more inclusive and available to everyone, there is no tryout process for the club. Any one with the will to learn and explore new fronts can join! Meeting Days: Every Monday Description: Birds of a Feather is a badminton club that aims to reach out to as many students as possible so that they can get a better understanding of badminton. Ultimately, our goal is to allow badminton to become a better known sport at Northwood and to provide opportunities for those who are interested in the sport but have no prior experience, as well as for those who want to train to a competitive level. The club will teach members basic techniques, practice/rally, and play fun games. We also plan to hold inter-district tournaments as well as provide members with volunteering opportunities. In this club, we will strive to raise money for a non-profit organization, Akshaya Patra, which serves free, mid-day meals at schools in India to motivate children to come to school and learn. That is where the objectives of Give and Feed originate from. The Interact and Teach will come from how we raise the money for this organization. We are sharing and teaching our gift/talent with the community to provide a gift for the rest of our society. Throughout the year, the club members will be designing, building, and launching a model rocket. The design phase will entail the use of an advanced simulation software known as RockSim. In the construction phase, a thorough understanding of the basic and advanced anatomy of a rocket will be gained. The launch will serve as the experimentation, crucial to any scientific project. Through it all, scientific knowledge acquired either through the club or the school curriculum will be applied to a hands-on project. The club is also a gateway to the Team America Rocketry Challenge competition, and its ultimate goal is to spark student interest in rocketry and inspire them to compete in this competition.
