Description: Academic Decathlon is a club designed to build strong team bonds and friendships

while learning more about various Academic topics. No tryout is necessary to be a member of

the club, and although the name sounds intimidating, don’t worry- it really, truly, isn’t. People

normally choose 2-3 subjects they are most interested in to focus on throughout the year. There

are 10 subjects, as follows: Math, Science, Language and Literature, History, Music, Art,

Economics, Speech, Interview, and Speech. This club is very non-stressful, and it is a great way

to become a more well-rounded individual, as well as form a tight circle of friends around

campus.

Description: ASPCA, which stands for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to

Animals, is dedicated towards advocating for animal rights and educating students on how to

correctly care for animals through discussions and firsthand experiences. During our meetings,

we discuss current events that pertain to the mistreatment of animals and help out with different

fundraising events related to animal cruelty prevention. We hope to make a difference, in and out

of Northwood, with a variety of opportunities in which students can be involved with. In the end,

we hope we will have provided you with more knowledge about what's happening in the world

of politics for animals, how you can help, and gain more of an appreciation for our pets. Join us

Description: Astronomy Club is dedicated to educating Northwood students and the community

about the vast field of astronomy, as well as providing a meeting place for students desiring to

deepen and share their knowledge about outer space. During meetings we have presentations

regarding various astronomy related topics, professional guest speakers, discussions on the latest

NASA occurrences, fun astronomy games, volunteer opportunities, and much more! Astronomy

Club also holds annual Stargazing Nights and participates in many events such as the annual

IPSF STEAM Carnival, so be sure to come by room 1022 the first and third Thursday of every

month to get involved!

Description: Northwood’s Biology Olympiad Club presents students with a new way to explore

the field of biology, compete in competitions, and participate in numerous off campus events.

We compete in the annual USA Biology Olympiad Open Exam in February, an exam that is free

for all high schoolers to take. BioLy also hosts the annual STEM Fest, an after school event that

showcases high-budget demonstrations that can’t be performed in typical science classes. We

regularly collaborate with science clubs of the other IUSD high schools in order to bring high-

quality exhibitions and events to all students of the district. Throughout the year, we hold

fundraisers for local and national non-profits (e.g. Irvine LIGHTS, The Mauli Ola Foundation,

etc.). In order to make the spread of biology more inclusive and available to everyone, there is no

tryout process for the club. Any one with the will to learn and explore new fronts can join!

Description: Birds of a Feather is a badminton club that aims to reach out to as many students as

possible so that they can get a better understanding of badminton. Ultimately, our goal is to allow

train to a competitive level. The club will teach members basic techniques, practice/rally, and

Description: Northwood High School’s, Business, Investments, and Finance Club is devoted to

researching and teaching the future generation of our school’s student body about new and

upcoming businesses. As well as conducting case studies, mock stock investments, and

providing students with a basic understanding of the fields of investments and finance. Our club

will have multiple projects, demonstrations, and lessons about the fundamental and basic

understanding of investments. Some of the events that we will be engaging in will consist of but

are not limited to, mock investment contest, project pitches, case studies, and guest speakers.

There are also lessons on economics. Any person is encouraged to join our club, participate with

the team, learn new concepts, and most importantly having fun while doing so.

Description: Cyber security is the protection of anything internet connected, including hardware,

software, and data from malicious attacks. Cyber security club covers subjects such as ethical

hardware hacking, social engineering, cryptography and more, and will teach you how to secure

Windows and Linux/Ubuntu machines and the basics of computer networking. Additionally,

members can choose to participate in multiple nation-wide competitions, including CyberPatriot

(a National Youth Cyber Education Program created by the Air Force Association), NCL

(National Cyber League), and the California Mayors Cup Cyber Competition. No prerequisites

or prior knowledge is needed to join this club, everyone is welcome!

these backpacks will be constructed by us and out dedicated board and club members and will be

dropped off at Seneca Foster and Adoption Agency once a month. We will also be making visits

to spend time with the children and get to know them on a personal level.

Description:Model United Nations (MUN) is a competitive simulation of the United Nations, an

international organization formed from the cooperative effort of countries all over the world to

solve pressing issues. In MUN, we take on the roles of diplomats from a variety of countries and

use diplomacy skills to develop solutions for problems ranging from refugee crises to disease

eradication and the effects of global warming. Through this club, we improve our public

speaking, research, and negotiation skills while competing in conferences all around the country.

All those wishing to expand their worldview are welcome to join!

Musicians United in Service and Entertainment (MUSE)

Description: MUSE allows club members to meet new musicians, create and perform in chamber

MUSE, both within and outside of Northwood to widen our reach.

Description: Namaste Northwood is a South Asian Club meant to spread the culture of India and

all other South Asian countries. We hold a Culture Show with other schools to showcase the

Description: Odyssey of the Mind participates in the annual Technology Student Association

Test of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics and Science (TEAMS) Competition, where we have

qualified for and placed highly at the national level every year since the club's founding. We

compete in events based on various scientific topics in addition to competing in building

challenges and prepared presentations. The club's ultimate goal is to create and strengthen

teamwork dynamics through these STEM-based activities and build a tightly knit community of

students passionate about learning.

Description: Origami Outreach aims to provide resources and assistance to anyone who wants to

have a fun and relaxing experience in paper folding. All skill levels are welcome! Meetings

consist of origami tutorials accompanied by one-on-one help if needed. We host monthly

volunteer opportunities at libraries over the course of the year where we help children learn and

fold origami. We also organize themed events at school based on holidays or festivals. Whether

knowledge is needed to have a fun and educational time.

Description: Project Reach-In is a service organization dedicated to promoting equity in

education. We raise resources and school supplies for impoverished public schools to donate and

bring awareness to the socioeconomic inequality of the current public school funding system.

The mission of Project Reach-In is to raise the quality of public education in an effort to combat

the increase of school closures, crime rate, and poverty rate. Members are tasked with organizing

and contributing to school supply donations and publicizing upcoming fundraising events.

Project Reach-In is a great way for students to earn community service hours, make new friends,

and most importantly, help those in need with the platform we have.

Description: Our club works with the American Red Cross to prevent and alleviate human

suffering in the face of emergencies. We hold blood drives on campus in order to collect blood to

send to local hospitals, as well as fundraisers and other service projects. Through meetings

and volunteer events at the Orange County Chapter, we encourage our members to become

aware of problems that arise after various emergencies and take a bigger part in helping our

community.

Description:Northwood's Science Olympiad team participates in multiple competitions annually

and we are one of the top teams in Southern California. We work together to study and prepare

to compete with other schools on events including Astronomy, Chemistry Lab, Forensics,

Gravity Vehicle, Ornithology and more. Prospective members must take our entrance exam,

which is held in May. While we cannot accept new team members during the year, feel free to

send us an email so that we have you on our email list when the entrance exam date comes

around again.

Seeds for Seniors

Description: Whether you are a hardcore gardener, want to participate in fun community service,

or just like being around plants, Seeds For Seniors is your low-stress connection to gardening!

This is a club that helps students grow and share plants at any level of skill or commitment, and

even help teach gardening classes for senior citizens in the spring. Our in-school meetings cover

gardening information and hands-on plant demos as well as preparation for the optional senior

center activities. Seeds for Seniors a way for plant lovers to create bonds within our community,

helping students and seniors gain access to a healthy, vibrant hobby.

Description: Smile Train is dedicated to raise money for cleft-lip and cleft palate surgeries for

particularly emphasize Northwood’s core value of Compassion by displaying the rewarding

effects of their hard work through young children’s smiles.

Description: Our club collaborates with the nonprofit organization Stop Drowning Now to

promote water safety in local communities. We believe that anyone, regardless of level of

experience, is at risk of drowning, and the risk of drowning can be reduced by creating safer

water, safer kids, and safer responses. We seek to educate children and their caregivers through

elementary school presentations and community events.

Team America Rocketry Challenge Outreach Club

Description: The Team America Rocketry Challenge Outreach Club provides a unique

experience to all club members. Throughout the year, the club members will be designing,

building, and launching a model rocket. The design phase will entail the use of an advanced

simulation software known as RockSim. In the construction phase, a thorough understanding of

the basic and advanced anatomy of a rocket will be gained. The launch will serve as the

experimentation, crucial to any scientific project. Through it all, scientific knowledge acquired

either through the club or the school curriculum will be applied to a hands-on project. The club is

also a gateway to the Team America Rocketry Challenge competition, and its ultimate goal is to

spark student interest in rocketry and inspire them to compete in this competition.

Description: The Technology/Hack Club of Northwood is an outreach club with a goal of

eliciting and nurturing a love of computer science and general STEM fields in the younger

generations as well as our peers. Tech Club accomplishes this goal by giving students the

opportunity to use professionally-created resources, to learn various software languages, to join a

global community of student 'hackers', to teach the youth of Orange County certain basics of

technology (programming, circuit design, robotics), and to participate in events tailored to

encourage their interests in computer science (exhibitions, speakers, etc.).
